Our fav producers, Argentinian duo & longtime couple, DJs Pareja, deliver us a fresh mix featuring many new tracks by Latin American producers (along with music from other regions).

"2020 was a very difficult year for all of us, but we managed to get through it doing the things we love. We made lots of music while reflecting on past, present & future.  There seems to be a light of hope for this year. We'll never forget that in June 2020 we were scheduled to play Buttons for the first time, in addition to a European tour. We were soooooo excited! Nonetheless, we look forward to doing it in 2022.  We can't wait to be able to throw our own parties again, Fun Fun and Leftclub in Buenos Aires, and to be able to travel and share our music with dance floors around the world.

Influences: 
I am inspired by a wide variety of genres and love to puzzle unexpected tracks together in my mixes. For me music is a way to heal and reflect on life, so my sets always follow my current state of mind. Sometimes it is dark and moody with experimental techno, rave, hardcore and bass and other times it is uplifting and playfull with early trance, breaks, electronica and electro.

Sometimes you can get lost in comparing yourself with other DJ's from your community or that you see online, so I always try to remember to have fun with my music and keep my focus on what inspires and drives me.

Daisychain 218 - James Lotion

This recipe is a recreation of a family friend's pancakes that I haven't had since I was a child. They were thinner than normal pancakes, had crunchy edges, and were more savory than sweet! I spent most of my teens and 20s ordering pancakes at restaurants and they were always a disappointment compared to my memory of those pancakes. The memory of those pancakes, the family I ate them with, and that time of my life is pressed firmly into my memory. Over the last couple years, whenever I made a big weekend breakfast, I was always chasing this memory and that's what inspired this mix. The feelings of nostalgia & melancholy, slow weekends, and chasing the impressions of a single meal from over 20 years ago. 

These pancakes are the antithesis of the giant stack of fluffy, cakey, pancakes that most restaurants serve. The batter(and the pancakes) should be a little thinner than normal and cooked in butter for a crunchy, buttery edge. If you're going to eat these with syrup, you have to use the cheap shit. No real maple syrup ;)

Ingredients 

1 C flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp butter, melted 
1 Cup + 2 tbsp buttermilk
1 egg, beaten

Method

1. Combine Flour, Baking Soda, Baking Powder, Salt and Sugar
2. Whisk in melted butter, buttermilk and beaten egg
3. Mix everything together but just barely! It should still be a little bit lumpy
4. Preheat a pan or skillet to a medium heat and add some butter. Embrace the butter
5. Make a test pancake! This is a good point to adjust the batter by adding a bit of milk/water or flour if it needs to be thicker or thinner. We're not aiming for crepe thin but we do want it to be a little thinner than the average pancake. 
6 Make the rest of the pancakes. Ideally straight out of the pan

Lavandula is a queer DJ exploring the euphoric sounds between Deep House, Detroit, Acid & Italo. Their entry into nightlife stems from a background in live visuals and motion design, and since being selected as an emerging artist for Body Movements in 2022, they have performed at various venues across East London, notably Dalston Superstore, Night Tales and All My Friends, amongst others. 

They also curate BLUSH, a mix and event series that aims to provide a moment to soothe the queer spectrum and focus on the wellbeing of the community. Lavandula invites Queer DJs to showcase an alternative side to their music library, away from the rave to create a space to decompress. BLUSH has featured on NTS and Refuge Worldwide, as well as hosting a monthly show on Voices Radio.
