The follow-up compilation from the 10-year celebration back in 2017 continues along with the same energy that Smokin' Sessions are so well known for, offering floaty and uplifting productions with detailed beat work, along with that all-important heavy serving of lower frequencies. 
We hear some absolute classics from names such as Djrum, Geode, Versa & Rowl, Escapism Refuge, Occult, Mercy, and some newcomers to the label in the form of Marenn Sukie & Synpal.
There are 5 exclusive, unreleased tracks in total. 2 stunners from Synkro, 1 from Biome, and another 2 from Synpal.
Some seriously impressive productions throughout.

The lineage takes us right back to early works, right up until the present day, and showcases some phenomenal music.
Its unmistakably Smokin' Sessions and the tracks selected are some of the finest offerings the label has released over its extensive history.

As well as the tracks selected for the compilation, there is and smooth and delicate mix from one of the label's most celebrated artists, Synkro. The DJ mix is masterfully mixed and blended and is nothing short of pure genius.

Starting a thread from Montreal to Bristol, this mini LP is rooted in the tradition of dub and techno, but with tinges of roots and acid as well as the etheric ambience they are both known for.

Root, Stalk, Leaf and Bloom is contemplative but heartfelt, with a sense of momentum and positive purpose.

Operating on the outer rim of the drum & bass scene for over a decade, Blocks & Escher have been designing intelligent and forward-thinking electronic dance across a multitude of releases for labels such as Metalheadz, Digital Soundboy and their own Narratives Music.  Their first release of 2022, ‘Shot In The Dark’ EP, pulls together four outstanding cuts of shadowy breaks and abstract electronica. 

Otherwise known as Phillip Smith and Will Hansen, Blocks & Escher distilled their sound into the critically acclaimed 2018 album ‘Something Blue’.  Released on Goldie’s Metalheadz imprint, the long player displayed a confident maturity of sound, and a more than capable accomplishment of pulling the visionary sounds of drum & bass into a new era.

The industrial breaks and hoover bass of ‘Shot In The Dark’ anchor a wave of cinematic synth sweeps, fashioning an arresting opening track on this accomplished EP.  The ingenious beats continue to unfurl across ‘Abyss’ and ‘This One’, as brooding atmospherics wash over in waves.  The finale of ‘Dance Girl’ ramps up the BPMs and beat complexity, as a breathless assault of rhythm and sound captivates and rewards in abundance.

The second album on Ilian Tape comes again out of Munich city. Skee Mask doesn’t spend a day without making music and the dedication, attention to detail and architectural approach really make this album an absolute trip to listen to. It’s the sound of a peaceful and energetic place. It’s smoky and cosy. It’s where Skee Mask spends most of his time. Yavor Zografski a.k.a SMYAH is a music producer and filmmaker based in Sofia, Bulgaria. SMYAH’s sound fuses different musical worlds, swinging from broken beats to leftfield bass and aerial, cinematic elements. He implements a somehow floral feeling to his sound, painting natural soundscapes with synthesizers and percussions.
