Just last week I completed work on a feature length film that I had the pleasure of being the sole audio engineer from production all the way through every part of audio post production.  It was a totally awesome year long experience, almost to the day.  I’m not sure what was the most fun, being on location with a fantastic cast and crew, dialog editing to the point of needing 0 ADR , walking the Foley, recording SFX, composing the score, re-recording the mix...  While the film is finished and the deliverables are delivered, I cannot say much more at this time.  This is the song I recorded for the credits roll.

Serious Business

I recorded tons of firearms and fireworks this past summer :) I wanted to share them, but they cost me a few bucks to capture so I decided to do a little demo mix using only sounds from my new personal “arsenal”. I have had this piece of bubble wrap floating around the studio for weeks, maybe even months now.  Today was the day it was turned into some great new percussive sounds for my sound library and yours ;)

I got to spend last weekend up in the beautiful mountains of Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park.  One of the places we visited and hiked around was called Adam’s Falls.  The hike was quite easy and thus the trail seemed more like a parade route than a national park.  Still, it was beautiful and I was able to find a couple minutes by myself with the waterfalls.

Snowboarding aside, there is one thing I like as much as designing sounds.  That is breaking stuff.  I mean no holds barred, sledge hammer swinging freak outs.  Lucky for me (and you), my wife and I are remodeling our bathroom!  
Said bathroom is hardly large enough for a mic stand, human, and a sledgehammer.  So I decided to mic up my hat with an old Sennheiser ME 2/EW wireless system and use myself as the mic stand.  I must say that it worked out pretty well.  I had both hands free to work with, and my head was always looking at what I was doing, therefore aiming the mic at the subject being whacked silly.  This is a recording taken while I was removing the wall tile from the shower.  I won’t lie to you folks, it was hard work.  Please excuse my breathing ;)

This is the city wide warning system for Denver, CO. What exactly I am being warned about is up for debate. The bottom line is that I heard the warning and I am still here, all in one piece. The funny thing is I bet the warning is telling people to GO INSIDE and TAKE COVER. What did I do? I grabbed a mic and ran OUTSIDE. 
Anyone know the real function of this siren?? Any creative guesses? Please let me know via the comments section!

I’ve got a lot to be thankful for.  I won’t subject you to my laundry list here ;)  I spent Thanksgiving with family in Tallahassee, Florida.  Apparently, there you are allowed to have MASSIVE bonfires in your back yard!  I’m thankful that this inferno didn’t melt my microphone!

Well, you probably landed here because we met on a chairlift, or at a party, in some audio forum, or at some esoteric user group meeting.&nbsp; Anyhow, thanks for taking the time to look me up!&nbsp; I enjoy getting down, boogieing, grooving out, rocking it old-school, kicking out the jams, throwing it down hard core, feeling the funk, bringing the ill shit, coming at you with mad flavor. I like field recording, video games, movies, techno music, and playing with expensive toys so it’s a big plus if you are someone who likes those things. Sometimes I skip work to snowboard…but never during crunch time! Obviously, I am not particularly skilled at, nor thrilled at the current prospect of writing a lot of boring, technical nonsense about what I do or how I do it, so I’ll leave it at that for now.
