My version of a song by Sippy Wallace. Mom used to play the Bonnie Raitt version and somewhere along the way I adjusted the lyrics to be from a man's point of view.  I couldn't remember how the piano intro went on the original, so I made up my own little thing in F for the guitar arrangement. Once again David Zoernig joins me on keyboard. After the show while the PA was being torn down and people were cleaning up, Uncle Fred broke out the ukulele and initiated an unamplified singalong. Cousin Laura with her lovely voice can be heard along with some of the kids also singing along. This is in the spirit of the family singalongs Shirley Lou Allen enjoyed throughout her life, so in spite of the background noise of chairs being taken down and put away it's included here.

After the show was over and the PA and chairs were being torn down, Uncle Fred broke out the ukulele and initiated a singalong, which was so much in the spirit of the Celebration  Of The Life Of Shirley Lou Allen that I thought it should be included here. Obviously Fred Allen is the type of performer who does not need a stage, a microphone, or a set list, or any of that, just a few people to listen and sing along if they know the song. This singalong continued for another hour, and in fact was started up again later at Kevin's house in the wee hours of the morning...that's how we roll in this family!

Mom requested Lollipops And Roses nearly every time someone who knew the song visited her in the hospital during her long illness in 2013, and declared it her "new favorite song." This was via written notes because at the time she was on a ventilator and unable to speak.

 My mother passed away December 18th, 2014, after a long illness. It was her desire that the family have a concert to celebrate her life. So we got together June 21st, 2014, at The Old Mission Church Community Center in Las Vegas, New Mexico, and with a little help from our friends we put on one last  show for our beloved mother, Shirley Lou Allen. These recordings are all from that event. We also played back a few recordings of Mom singing, which are included here. Thanks to all the performers and everyone who attended and helped with food, beverages, and so forth. It was just the sort of concert she wanted.
