Following collaborations on Cuttin’ Headz and Leftroom, New York’s Jesse Calosso & Jean Pierre team up again for two rhythmic house cuts entitled ‘Feel Good’ on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax imprint.

Debuting on Seth Troxler & The Martinez Bros’ Tuskegee, Jesse Calosso has enjoyed a meteoric rise with regular releases on Cuttin’ Headz. Meanwhile, Jean Pierre – a selector at Brooklyn’s Halcyon - has appeared on labels like Desolat, Leftroom and Deeperfect. Together they are two of the most exciting names to emerge out of New York’s thriving club scene, with Calosso having DJed at venues like fabric and Panorama Bar, whilst Pierre has performed at Amnesia, Space Ibiza New York, Output, and Sankeys Ibiza.

Kicking into action, ‘Feel Good’ is a high-octane production with thudding percussion, distant vocals and a fluttering low-end. Meanwhile, ‘Mad Dawg’ features a low slung groove with its stomping kicks, echoing snares and moody bassline. Both tracks are geared with the dancefloor in mind and represent the creative minds of two producers with musical knowledge above their years.

Manchester’s REME joins up with Jamie Jones’ Hottrax to release three rolling house cuts entitled ‘Juarez Avenue’. 

REME is the latest house music producer to break through Manchester’s new wave of talent. He began his musical journey playing at the renowned party series MVSON before delving into his own productions which were later displayed in a split release with Mason Collective and Henry Jacobs on 90watts. His creative and vibrant energy is naturally reflected within his own music which garnered support from the likes of Marco Carola, Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers over the summer. ‘Juarez Avenue’ sees the Mancunian artist join the Hottrax roster alongside the likes of wAFF, Waze & Odyssey, Kevin Knapp and Mark Jenkyns. 

‘Juarez Avenue’ sets the tone of the EP with fluid low end, acid infused synth sequences and delicate drum patterns before minimal aesthetics are displayed in ‘Mystery’ through sharp bass stabs, playful chord progression and warming pads throughout. ‘Duff Duff’ then brings things to a close with muffled drums, a crunchy bassline and dub-tinged sound design.

AJ Christou is one of dance music’s hottest properties right now, here he links with Matteo Spedicati for a standout new EP on Play It Say It that includes a remix from Jean Pierre and Jesse Calosso. 

AJ Christou is alarmingly young for someone who has achieved so much. The UK artist runs his own Celesta Recordings label, formerly held a Sankeys residency at home in Manchester, and has released on Rawthentic, Snatch! and Whippin and headlined everywhere from Hï Ibiza to Parklife. His partner in crime here is Italian Matteo Spedicati, who has more than a decade of experience of making tunes supported by the likes of Marco Carola, Luciano and Loco Dice. 

They kick things off with ‘Slapping Out The Door’, a high powered house cut built on fantastic drum programming that is tight and infectious. Freaky vocals and laughter add a menacing vibe and the relentless bassline will supercharge any club. The superb ‘Say What’ is a razor sharp cut with dark, prying bass, yelping vocal stabs bring a streetwise swagger and the whole thing is brilliantly intense and chunky.  

The remix of ‘Slapping Out The Door’ is from Jean Pierre and Jesse Calosso, the Cuttin’ Heads associates who have been playing and producing together for a while now. Their take on the tune is more trippy and designed for the after party, with paranoid voices and busy hi hats working you into a lather.
