Eric was the son of 16-year-old Patricia Molly Clapton and Edward Walter Fryer , a 24-year-old Canadian soldier stationed in England during World War II. Before Eric was born, Fryer returned to his wife in Canada.
It was extraordinarily difficult for an unmarried 16-year-old to raise a child on her own in the mid-1940s. Pat’s parents, Rose and Jack Clapp, stepped in as surrogate parents and raised Eric as their own. Thus, he grew up believing his mother was his sister. His grandparents never legally adopted him, but remained his legal guardians until 1963. Eric’s last name comes from Rose’s first husband and Pat’s father, Reginald Cecil Clapton

Eric’s mother, Pat, eventually married and moved to Canada and Germany as her husband, Frank MacDonald, continued his military career. They had two girls and a boy. Eric’s half-brother, Brian, was killed in a road accident in 1974 at the age of 26. His half-sisters are Cheryl and Heather

Eric was raised in a musical household. His grandmother played piano and his uncle and mother both enjoyed listening to the sounds of the big bands. Pat later told Eric’s official biographer, Ray Coleman, that his father was a gifted musician, playing piano in several dance bands in the Surrey area.

With this one I really wanted to challenge myself and play some tracks that weren't 4 to the floor, minute in minute out, made to mix tracks and to feature a sound that I was digging around then.  I don't think "Electro-Hop" is a real genre, or that anyone else necessarily refers to this sound with that term, but that is what it has always been in my head.  Heard more in the Jamtronica / Festival scene than the Rave Warehouse, I was digging what these artists were putting down nonetheless.  This is about as close as I could ever come to enjoying anything resembling brostep.

May 2011 is when I started releasing mixes as Sneakers in the Dryer. Prior to that, I recorded and posted about 15 mixes as "DJ Erock," a nickname I had been using since early high school - well before I understood what a DJ even did, I just knew I was into dance music. By 2009, when I first got a pair of turntables, I knew enough to know what a good DJ set should sound like and what it shouldn't. The DJ Erock mixes are probably closer to not good than they are good. As my hero, James Murphy says about DJing, "We want to take you on a journey" I released the mixes I recorded as DJ Erock as part of that journey - they're not technically perfect, they're not mind blowingly great, and they were never intended to be the final product of a DJ persona who would be seeking gigs. I just wanted to be transparent and share music along the course of my development. I'm uploading these mixes all to Soundcloud to have them archived for listening. Hopefully someone will enjoy, or at least take inspiration from these!
