22 may 2021 - here's a mix i put together for a local party. Mix is drenched with tracks from my fave techno producers: Pig&Dan! Uptempo, sweaty, not to stop any time soon. Switch off your lights and turn up that volume. All credits and respect go to the producers of these tracks, I just wanted to share that momentum of an ideal techno set for an evening... hope you like it!

Dark Techno Pig&Dan Mixtape #1

Well... does it taste like more? This is a snapshot from an unfinished track I made together with Maarten Visser (aka Ech Heftag aka The Director :) back in 2002 and 2003. Too bad we didn't complete it.

Is-it-all-o-matic (2003)

A trip down (a haunting) memory lane... First draft tune for my short graduation film "Tinnitus" (2001), a spooky story about a guy who accidently erases his own existance. Worked on it during my MA-ISCA study at the HKU (2000-2001). Used gear: Octamed, Roland SH-7, TR-606, Juno-1, Syntecno Teebee, Yamaha YS-100. Recorded April 2001.

Tinnitus, early demo (april 2001)

This is what it sounds like when a bug larve inside your head wakes up and starts eating its way out through your brain. Ready to explore life, while leaving you dead.

I originally created this as the title music for my short film "Tinnitus" in 2001, starring Frank Rigter (on the photo). It includes a sample from Blue Velvet where Jeffrey Beamont says (to Sandy): "Bug Spray".

Sidenote: This was the only time I used my Roland SH-7 in a track, which was a stunning looking analogue synth but the sounds it produced were a bit disappointing. Too bad I sold it though :/

Bug Spray (2001)

... or how dust and cracks on a vinyl record are coming to life and create their own groovy party.

Made somewhere between 1999 and 2000.

Used gear: Premiere 4.2, CoolEdit.

Off the Record (2000)

This extract is a somewhat unfinished mockup of parts I made between 1999 and 2003. 
Main ingredients: a Pearl Syncussion, an Amiga, Yamaha SK50D and a 250% downpitched sample from the Blue Velvet main theme, just to add that Lynchian flavor (sample credits must go to Angelo Badalamenti actually).

Tiny Sucking Device (1997)

Loosely based on the Airwolf theme but also inspired by The Timelords' <i>Doctorin' The Tardis</i>.
This tune I made in 1998 was never finished, because I lost the actual sequence file.
Glad I recorded this version to minidisc :)

GPK-303 (1998)

This track from 1998 began as a parody on commercial trance and techno music.
It eventually was used in a racing game by Davilex Entertainment, A2 Racer or Autobahn Raser.
Can't remember which one.

Davilex A2 Racer Speed Remix (1998)

From 1998, this is a remix of a track I made earlier.
It was used in the computer game Autobahn Raser by Davilex Entertainment.

Davilex Autobahn Raser Menu (1998)

This is an audio demo from 303emu - a semi-realtime softsynth / sequencer program I made for the Commodore Amiga. It mimics the sound of a Roland TB-303. 

All the sounds you hear are computer generated, no samples were used. I admit it's not a very accurate emulation, since this was one of the first versions i made in 1996. It renders and plays a sequence and allows for realtime control of the cutoff frequence.

Finally found this recording of a "live set" performed in 1998 at a not so popular local radio station in Bussum or Huizen, during a hot summer day when everyone else was outside enjoying the weather.

As "Make that the cat wise" would say: I think we had an audience of one-and-half man and a horse's head. Anyway, here's an extract of that... about 9 minutes of acid bleeps and beats.

Gear used: Amiga 1200 with Octamed, the acid pack (an MC-202, TB-303, TR-606), a mixer and some guitar pedals.

I'm a fan of old analogue synthesizers and drum machines. All recordings I did so far, were made using Octamed on the Amiga, and in some cases even Protracker.
