“Save The Date”, our exclusive today, is a fresh take on classic house & garage by Ben Hauke, one of our favorite dancefloor centric artists. 

Last Year At Marienbad, an Oath sub-label, is due to release a new mini-album by Ben Hauke, a talented and multi-faceted artist. Since his debut in 2013, Hauke has been exploring a variety of sounds and reference points to create a unique contemporary house style. His music features superb drumming patterns and deep emotional quality that ties everything together. Hauke's sound feels elastic and boundless, with a hazy, earthy quality that creates vitality in all its forms.

Hauke has released on a variety of labels, including Far Out, Church, Hear Other Sounds, Melodica, Co-Operation Recordings, and YAM. He founded WOOP records to experiment with his style, showcasing his talent for UK garage, jungle, and broken beat. With his latest release, ‘Save The Date’. Hauke continues to push the boundaries of house music, seamlessly moving from sweaty dancefloors one night to relaxing walks the next day.

"Save The Date" features broken beat masterclasses in "Make Up Break Up Bench" and "Let's Move On Bro," both with swinging beats and somber yet uplifting top layers of keys and flutes. The upbeat house numbers include "Watch Me Now," with gorgeous filtered melodic lines and evocative vocals, "Forever Me," with an electronic sax taking center stage, and the title track we are premiering today, with its driving beats and emphatic piano lines. 
The album also includes "First Snow," a sub-1 minute break showcasing Hauke's love of Hip Hop, adding a different dimension to the album.

Hauke's sound is both heart-inducing and pulse-setting, creating an easy-going atmosphere that washes away fears and sets the mind on a brighter path. "Save The Date" is his most complete and accomplished release to date, offering only the finest House-laden vibrations.

In 1997, London trio House of 909 released The Children We Were – an album of rolling, midtempo house gems that were as evocative as they were posh. The tracks were laced with male vocals and the subject matter dealt with youth, and leaving it. As with many worthy releases of their day, the record was embraced by a niche audience, but overlooked on a larger scale. Deep house, with its smooth edges and soft-focus approach, was less appreciated in a scene then dominated by warehouse parties and cavernous clubs.

Cascine will reissue The Children We Were on limited-edition vinyl. The material has been remastered, the artwork redesigned and the record repackaged. It's a special body of work and we’re pleased to release it through the lens of the label.

The cold air blew coarsely through the winter night. She could feel it in her bones as she walked beneath the glow of the office blocks and the dim glow of streetlights. As she looked around people came and went, faceless and blurry they were but mere reflections which moved in between the dark and shadowy spaces. The concrete upon which she tread was glazed in water from the rain which had poured all day long. She could almost catch a glimpse of herself when looking at her feet in the shine of the damp. She kept on walking through the night until she saw the light again once more. It was safer that way. 

Books is the next artist to release music on XVI. He delivers three tracks of elegant, enchanting house music which accompany the dark nights of winter very well.

'Nyako' is 7th vinyl release at On the Corner and it's a big one. South African producer 'Behr' created 'Nyako' together with Makadem during a Santuri Safari session at Sondeka Festival in Kenya. 
The E.P is 4 cuts that build in brilliance from the original which has extremely broad appeal. Indian producer 'Daisho' delivers a straight ahead 4 x 4 house groover, south-London production duo Modified Man swing their analogue machines into action for a heady synth adventure, which is just a bit broken. Berlin-based duo of Dirk Leyers and DJ Nomad (Hans Reuschl) are the ideal pairing to merge technology and tradition together as AFRICAINE808 bring up the rear with a balearic sensation to round off the EP. 
Makadem is a talented musician and vibrant performing artist from Kenya. He's a figurehead of the Benga scene in Nairobi. His stage presence and powerful vocal delivery, had him likened to the legendary Fela Kuti. Makadem innovates by bringing traditional African instrumentation, story telling and contemporary production methods together.
