デトロイトテクノのセンチメンタルさとエレクトロシンセ、ファンクなベースラインのフュージョンで1時間のライブセットをラップトップや準備無しにこなす Rhythm Droid。Rennie Foster's Dirty Works labelからリリースもしておりフランス人のデュオHousse De Racketのリミックスも製作。そしてロンドンのEye Industries (Siriusmo, Russ Chimes, Alan Braxe, The Twelves)からのリリースも控えている。 南カリフォルニアのサーファータウンで育ったDevon Hughes(本名)はエレクトロニックを聞いて育ち日本でテクノポップスターになる事に憧れを持つ様になる。初期に影響を受けたのはBeatles, Vivaldi,そして日本のポップやアニメ音楽だったようだ。その後ティーンエイジャーだった彼は90年代のレイヴシーンに魅了される。スウィデッシュテクノやロンドンのアシッドを経験しながら安いシンセ、シーケンサー、テープレ コーダー等を使い色々試みるがOrbitalのグラストンベリーでのライブパフォーマンス映像を見たことが彼にとってのターニングポイントとなる。 Devonは彼らのテクノロジーを駆使したパワフルなステージに圧倒され頭に強く焼きつく事となる。そしてエレクトロニックミュージックをス テージで披露する事に惹かれライブパフォーマンスに力を入れる様になる。初期は客も少ない中酷いサウンド、誠実ではないプロモーターやクレイジーなレイ バー達に揉まれながらも11年の間数え切れないほどのギグをこなし、ドラムマシーン、シンセサイザー、エフェクトプロセッサー、マイクと共に現在のファンクで 熱狂したパーティーに欠かせない存在になる。彼はこれまでにRennie Foster (Subject Detroit, F-Com, Rebirth), The Lowbrows (Lindatune), Crystal Fighters (Kitsune)等と共にプレイしてる。 

Fusing Detroit techno sentimentalism with electro synths and funk basslines Rhythm Droid manages to pump out 1 hour plus live house, electro, and tech-funk sets without any laptop or prerecorded material. Having released on Rennie Foster's Dirty Works label along with remixing French duo Housse De Racket, he also has forthcoming releases on London's Eye Industries (Siriusmo, Russ Chimes, Alan Braxe, The Twelves).

Growing up in a sunny surfing town in Southern California, the young Devon Hughes spent his days noodling with electronics, entertaining fantasies of becoming a techno-pop star in Japan. Early musical turn-ons included the Beatles, Vivaldi, Japanese pop and anime music. Still a teenager, he found himself drawn deep into the late 90's rave scene, becoming exposed to harder styles like Swedish techno and London acid. Experimenting with cheap synths, a sequencer, and reel-to-reel tape recorders, the Droid hit a turning point when he saw footage of Orbital's live performance at Glastonbury. "I couldn't believe it. Just to be up there on stage with those headlights, making such powerful music using technology...there was nothing cooler. That image was burned into my mind." Determined to take his fascination with electronic music to the stage, Rhythm Droid embarked on an odyssey of live performances--enduring poor attendance, bad sound, shifty promoters, and crazy ravers. 11 years and countless gigs later, Rhythm Droid is able to massage even the most selective partygoers into a funk frenzy with a messy table of drum machines, synthesizers, effect processors and a microphone. He has shared the stage with Rennie Foster (Subject Detroit, F-Com, Rebirth), The Lowbrows (Lindatune), and Crystal Fighters (Kitsune). Current releases are the 4-track "mute city ep" and Rennie Foster's "The Go Down (Rhythm Droid Remix)" on Dirty Works. Upcoming releases include "Young in Your Heart", "Vector Interlock (Raw n Dirty)" from Dirty Works and Housse De Racket's "Forty Love (Rhythm Droid Remix)".

Ken RangkutyによるソロプロジェクトであるKeenhouseは巧みなエレクトロニックサウンドと、よくあるベッドルームで作り出される様なものより全然レベルの高いドリーミーなシンセポップがブレンドされたユニークさが特徴。デモからやがてデビューとなった「Civic Transit」はピアノとコミュニケーションのとれたポップ感を組み合わせたサウンドになっている。彼はインドネシアとドイツで育ったバックグランドを持ち、そのユニークな環境もノスタルジックな雰囲気と共に活かされており、ティーンエイジャーの純粋さ、若さや愛というテーマ、そして未来的なファンタジー、ネオン輝くダンスフロアー、そして子供の頃の空想などを感じされるサウンドを作る。「Civit Transit」に続くオリジナルは勿論、リミックスでもその才能を披露してくれるだろう。

The new solo project from composer Ken Rangkuty, Keenhouse delivers a unique blend of electronic wizardry and dreamy synth-pop that creates something richer your average bedroom dreampop. The demos that would become Keenhouse's debut Civic Transit were a reaction to Rangkuty's own desires to combine his own extensive training on piano with a desire to make communicative pop music of his own. Taking inspiration from his diverse upbringing in Indonesia and Germany, Keenhouse's music drifts around nostalgic takes on a youth remembered only in dreams. Themes of teenaged innocence, young love, and futuristic fantasies paint a picture of equal parts neon dancefloor and childhood daydreams. A studio rat at heart, Keenhouse promises to continue to deliver a dizzying array of remixes while continuing to write songs for his follow up to Civic Transit.

Blue SatelliteことPhilip Schwanは音楽活動は趣味だという学生で、音楽制作を始めたのは15才から。当時はギターを録音したり、Tepidという名でゲーム音楽をリミックスしてたという。その後何年かの経験を重ねエレクトロニックミュージックに真剣に向き合うようになり名前もBlue Satelliteに変更。それ以来オリジナルトラックやジャンルの異なる様々なアーティストへのアンオフィシャルリミックスの製作を続けており、その中でも幾つかの成功を収めている。例えば最近日本人サックス奏者、勝田かず樹(JAFROSAX/Dimension)のニューシングルである「Xposure.」のリミックスに参加したり、RACの「If You Forget Me」のリミックスでもHoly Rollerのフィルムにフューチャーされたりしている。 ギター、ピアノ、ベース、バイオリン、そして歌も歌え、彼の音楽の中で使われるサンプルは彼自身によるライブ演奏で出来ている。彼のテイストはとても広く、その中でもジャズフュージョン、フレンチや日本のエレクトロ、そしてクラシック等を好んでいるようだ。今後も様々なコラボレーション等も含めとても期待の出来る若手である。

Philip Schwan aka 'Blue Satellite' is a student that enjoys music production as a hobby. Phil began producing at 15 years old, making rough recordings of his guitar, and releasing video game remixes under the alias 'Tepid.' After a couple years of messing around, Phil became serious about electronic music and switched his alias to Blue Satellite. Since then, Blue Satellite has been making original music and unofficial remixes in various genres of electronic music.

Blue Satellite has had occasional successes with his music. Recently, Blue Satellite was recently able to work with the famous Japanese saxist Kazuki Katsuta (JAFROSAX/Dimension) to release a remix of his new single 'Xposure.' Another defining moment for Blue Satellite was working with RAC, remixing the track 'If You Forget Me' featured on the Holy Roller film's soundtrack.

Blue Satellite enjoys playing guitar/piano/bass/violin/singing and many of the live instrument samples used in his songs are sampled from his own performances. His musical tastes are broad, but Blue Satellite tends to mostly listen to jazz fusion, French/Japanese electro and classical music. Said favorite artists include Dimension (Japan), capsule (Japan), Siriusmo, and Maurice Ravel.

Blue Satellite still considers himself to be new to electronic music, but will continue to make it to relax in between classes. The future is looking bright for Blue Satellite, with plenty of collaborative work around the corner.
