We have a very special Somersault Mix tonight brought to us by two Brooklyn based artist Third Self & mlg 

"backpain is a collaborative upcoming project between dj and producers Sean Thompson (@Third_Self) and mlg (@michael_golabek) based out of Brooklyn, New York, who blend a mix of hard drum, gorge, bass, electro, breaks, techno, and a wide variety of other genres. We originally started as techno heads, till we saw Objekt live, where we were inspired to move beyond established sounds and drift through various tempos, moods, styles, and different rhythms. We have a few gigs by the end of the year.

When not together, Third Self works on producing electro and is working alongside @brian_thabault on their R&B project named Shy Fidelity. Their first EP has already been released and they are in the current works on their 2nd EP. mlg produces primarily breaks, techno, and hard drum. He has a few singles releasing by the end of the year and some tracks you will hear unreleased by him in this mix."

SOAK w Venus in Foil on Internet Public Radio [Nov 8-21]

The Local Selection Mix returns with a mind bending trip from one of Dublin’s most under rated DJs and producers, Outl1er. The young gun has provided an hour of chaotic breakbeats, mind bending synth lines and pounding percussive rhythms.

Outl1er returns following his debut release on SafeHaus Selects (SS001) & his Lethe EP. Outl1er has been known to draw on elements of Jungle, IDM & Bass Music.

The Dubliner takes clear inspiration from some of the great’s within electronic music such as Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, µ-Ziq, Luke Vibert and many others, who pushed the fragments of electronic music so much that it catapulted genre into vast new territories and burst into tumultuous breakbeats.

This lawless kind of energy is felt right through Outl1er’s mix as the mix as the vigour escalates to great heights but soon soon’s shatters to dust. Outl1er manages to maintain energy throughout even though the mix often breaks down to oblivion on numerous occasions.

It’s clear the track selection was carefully thought out here and the pairing of track’s and moods is carefully orchestrated. Strap in for an uncompromising ride through the low end spectrum, 170+, jungle, and more.
