EXPERIMENTAL...

Taking the inspiration for its title from the book ' Number 9 Dream' by David Mitchell (which in turn was taken directly from the John Lennon song of the same name), and influenced part by the ambient work of David Sylvian and part by a love of 80's synths, Number 7 Dream is a shameless experiment in synthesiser 'noodling'. Why 'Number 7 Dream'? Well, we are hoping it might be lucky...!

AFRICA UNMASKED...

'Talking In My Sleep' is underpinned by African rhythms and instrument samples, creating a steady groove with a dash of electronica and guitar thrown over the top. It might even have picked up a small piece of Peter Gabriel influence along the way...

The cover art is an African mask collected by Sociedad's synth player in Kenya many moons ago. It seems to suit the mood...

Sociedad's attempt at a piece of modern 'World' music. There are some fabulous releases by the RealWorld record label and recent listening excursions into artists such as Joi and Talvin Singh have inspired an Asian influenced track with a modern twist...

The artwork is courtesy of the wonderful Andre. It is a slight departure from her usual abstract and amazingly colourful work, but is perfect as 'Buddha's Bedroom'!

CINEMATIC...

On first listen, friends of the band said this should be used in a film! This is bordering on a classical piece, with a piano riff mixed in with simple strings, harp and flute. In the absence of Christopher Nolan making a call, close your eyes and let your imagination create your own movie...

'Beautiful Insomnia' is the name of the work of art used on the cover. The work is courtesy of Daniel Hooper, a wonderful exhibiting artist whose work exudes the passion and flair which Daniel applies to his work (follow Daniel on Instagram @danielhooperart).

The opening track of our debut album takes ambient, electronic and rock influences (We've been listening to all this stuff for years!) and fuses them together to provide a flavour of the Sociedad sound. This is our 'inception'...!

'Hello Kitty' is the name of the photograph used as the cover art for this track. The shot was taken by the amazing Canadian photographer, Lily Hawrysh, and was the direct source of inspiration for the idea of 'Hello Kitty' as a piece of music.
