Gospel blues meets neo-soul over a bouncy boom bap rhythm bristling with shining funk guitar licks, cheeky synths and an irresistible glockenspiel line that despite its positive groove is a bittersweet tale of a loss of faith. A man at the end of his tether searching for safety and redemption is the theme from the New York based, Trinidad & Tobago born singer John Skweird, and he bares his soul here with gusto. Not unlike Mark Ronson’s retro-soul experiments, ‘Better Place’ is both fresh and classic sounding, the timeless soul fire of John’s vocals meshing beautifully with Mr Bird’s modern funk chops.

Golden Wing

Kabanjak´s moody song "Sapphire" begins with a melancholic guitar intro that is merging into a sluggish downbeat, typically for Kabanjak´s music.

As soon as the drums and bass kick in, we hear floating strings, a sparkling glockenspiel as Kabanjak continues to add more and more mystical sounds along the way of the song.

In the End arpeggiated synths and chopped blues vocals replace the guitars and finally everything breaks down into a beautiful outro without ever touching the ground.

In Persian Lore it was believed that the sapphire´s reflection gave the sky it´s blue color, which is a perfect image for Kabanjak´s song.

"Blue" in the sense of feeling down but also giving a glimpse of hope and positivity.

Label boss Angelos Stoumpos aka Timewarp inc is back with a new single. My Belly Dream is a small draft music idea that was composed around fifteen years ago and has been found somewhere in his dusted archives! 

After a few sessions in the studio the song was re-constructed from scratch, and here we get an afro-funk based disco-boogie groove. Timewarp played, performed and recorded all the keyboards on his Hammond & Rhodes until the song reached that unique boogie disco feeling. 

Special shout out to Aris Kokou and Bongo Loco aka Cosmic Yum for their groovy contribution on the Congas and Bongos accordingly! 

My Belly Dream is presented in two versions, original & beats mix.
