Been a while since I did music, really; I wanted to do something that was very techy and not very melodic - obviously I failed at both of those things.

Depth Charge

The full 16 minute version of Wonder Girl Meets Wonder Boy, only ever available on Myspace in the late 2000s. Shorter edits have appeared over the years but the original mix was lost, until now! This song was composed and performed on a Nintendo Gameboy DMG using Nanoloop 1.3 music software. Additional instruments and FX were added in post via FL studio 6 (demo version).

Henry Homesweet - Essential Chip Mix 2023 (DEC)

Concocted with love and care for the Amiga by ALPA & Ziphoid in Stockholm, Sweden, March 2024 using PT2 Clone by 8bitbubsy on macOS.

Part of the ChipChop 17 compilation by Desire and also submitted to the Oldskool Music Compo at Revision 2024 where it placed #6. Original module file size is 40028 bytes and will be available for download soonish™.

Dedicated to the fallen heroes Acryd & MBB as well as all the party organizers out there keeping the scene alive!

Since I actually never have released a Protracker track before (only Sound- and Noisetracker as well as all sorts of other weird formats), I felt it was time to do something and see if I couldn't get something going. Hence, I asked ALPA if he wanted to do a collaboration and since he had an old sketch lying around by its lonesome, I took it in and started twiddling on extending it. Luckily, we found out that we are VERY compatible when it comes to harmonies and melodies and I believe the end result turned into a true blend of both of us and I feel very happy about it. This is not the last track we'll do together, that's for sure!

Written with a ROLI Seaboard, soundchips from some very old machines, a piano, a field recorder, and some excellent instrumental recordings from friends.

Elemental Fusion is an album of collaborations with instrumentalists. In most cases, I asked friends to record a few minutes of improv or pseudo-improv to use as a springboard for writing a piece of music. The tracks would then be built around whatever they sent me, often chopped up and manipulated. The result is serendipitous; these works were pushed in unique, unexpected directions by my collaborators' performances. The compositional challenge was thrilling.

This album also interprets the word "fusion" in other senses - it is a spiritual successor to the similarly-named pair of diametrically opposed EPs I released in 2022, Elemental Harmony & Elemental Chaos, combining their respective styles of "melodic chiptune" and "ambient glitch" into one work that lives on a spectrum between them. It is a blend of acoustic warmth and digital processing. It is also a synthesis of many different styles, sounds and techniques that I've come to enjoy employing in my writing.

Elemental Fusion is perhaps my most challenging and varied work to date, and I think about it as a recital of sorts for the classical concert stage, a statement of purpose. To that end, detailed program notes are included with the album!

Here's an ImpulseTracker module I made for a One Hour Compo hosted on the #modulez IRC channel - which got classified 2nd. This song was made exactly 15 years ago, so 5th April 2009!

It was the same One Hour Compo that slash / surasshu entered with his song "Eek!" (thepenis.it), which was classified 1st, and today it marks 15 years!
