And so the plot thickens as chapter seventeen in the ever gripping Selador story is ready for dispatch. Never being ones to shy away from the heart of the action, the Selador A&R department are proud to present an EP from a Spanish producer who's been making tsunami size waves on the scene in the last 12 months with his distinctive brand of melodic tech house for labels such as Suara, Cecile & Get Physical. 

Enter stage left.. AFFKT (the k is silent) who comes armed with two electronic battle weapons guaranteed to leave a trail of destruction behind them whenever they're deployed. We're just thanking our lucky stars that he's on our side! 

First up, it's the mighty 'Moix'. A main room tech house/techno hybrid bound together by a symphony of growling synths and interspersing swirling melodies. With bells on. Literally! It's tracks like these that remind us why we wanted to run a label in the first place.

'Lagarde' is an altogether darker affair. A lean, mean, heads down machine of a track that's sure to ruffle a few feathers whenever your dance floor requires. That's guaranteed or your money back. Rumours that this is in fact a dance floor tribute to Christine of the IMF however, were unconfirmed at time of going to press ;-)

First of the remixes comes from Selador favourite Robert Babicz as he takes on 'Moix'. To say he cut it fine on making the deadline here would be to understate things somewhat but boy, did he deliver in the end. In fact we'd go as far as to say this is one of his best remixes ever. Big, bouncy and uplifting. Babicz style. 

And the final name on the team sheet is one Jihed Monser, aka HearThuG, a Tunisian producer who's consistently impressed with his deep, dark offerings over the last couple of years. So much so, we invited him to join the every growing Selador clan by remixing 'Lagarde'. Needless to say, we're overjoyed to have him on board.

Munich based producers Julian Wassermann & Oliver Deuerling stick to their roots on their “Monopterus” EP. A sonic incursion into the deep ends of house and tech, the duo pay homage to their hometown, as each title track points us in the direction of a well known city landmark.

Much like the monument with the same name, “Monopterus” is a solid construction starting off with an exposed kick that’s soon suspended by intricate melody parts, spare percussion and ethereal synths. Björn Störig tones down the drama on the remix. By focusing on the percussive line, Störig reshapes the melody, giving the track a relentless groove with major peak-time appeal.

“Muechner Freiheit” surprises with its minimalist ambiental approach, as looped piano chords create a sense of celestial atmosphere. The track is stripped back and hypnotic, adding to its sense of airiness. “Schwabing” combines the complementary essences of the past two original tracks, fusing an atmospheric ambiance with a steady, energetic percussion. Hazy vocals increase the oneiric sensation, anticipating the uplifting and elating breakdown. The final track is a robust cut that's full of tension and brooding darkness. Whirring synths and electronic squelches intertwine with ghastly vocals, amping up the murky factor.“Omen” showcases an elegant exercise in layering unusual textures, and the perfect track to finish off the release.
