Tash's Movement Recordings opens the month of September by welcoming Ruben Karapetyan back to the label for a new EP. Born in Armenia but now calling Los Angeles home, Ruben Karapetyan has carved out a unique place in the electronic underground. Following a ten-year hiatus, Ruben returned in 2020 to a rousing response via releases courtesy of Movement Recordings. On the strength of his first two singles for the label 'Gignesthai' and 'Hathor', Ruben quickly emerged as a hyped talent in the trend-driven state of progressive house. Releases via Clubsonica, Mango Alley, Univack and more would soon follow, further establishing Ruben as a top tier talent and in demand remixer. Now, following a contribution to The Soundgarden's 'Summer Collection', Ruben returns to his initial home of Movement Recordings with 'Live In The Moment', alongside remixes from Michael Hooker and Dowden.

Destined to be a highlight in Ruben's discography, 'Live In The Moment' lands in impressive fashion and once again shows his craft must be taken to heart. Perfectly sculpted grooves and billowing stabs start the journey on a darker monochrome, before hopeful vocal fragments and emerging atmospheres shift the tone into one of optimism. Ruben's confident club energy continues to grow leading into the break, as emerging melodies reveal a glowing interlude where a dreamlike elegance takes shape. Timely vocals swell and intensify across the poignant centrepiece, elegantly peaking against a backdrop of wailing synths and clustered drums, before getting washed away as one final rush unleashes a groove-centric finale. The companion piece 'Mindful Harmony' follows in equally impressive fashion with galloping beats and grooves setting the course for dubbed out tones and lively percussive arrangements. Orbiting effects add depth and space leading into the break, where deconstructed vocals and creamy melodies create an air of anticipation and emotion, onwards to a thumping conclusion.

First up on the remixes is Michael Hooker who makes his label debut following strong releases for JEE Productions, Mango Alley and his own Re:Sound imprint. Always a creative and club-effective remixer, the Jersey resident takes 'Live In The Moment' into his world of percussive grooves and swing heavy rhythms. Making great use of the vocal elements, along with timely synths and glowing atmospheres, Michael's version not only brings a commanding dance floor presence, but also lands as one of his best remixes to date.

The release concludes with Dowden making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Mindful Harmony'. Hailing from Toronto, Canada but currently calling Berlin home, Dowden has been one of his country's premiere progressive house producers for the better part of a decade. Genre tastemakers Cid Inc, Guy J and Hernan Cattaneo have been steadfast with support, while releases on trendsetting imprints such as Clubsonica, EDGE, Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Meanwhile and John OO Fleming's Joof Recordings have highlighted his discography in recent years. Now, making his Movement Recordings debut in impressive fashion, Dowden delivers a dark and groovy take on 'Mindful Harmony'. While maintaining the elusive spirit of the original, the Canadian artist crafts a sweeping sonic experience all his own, a prophetic journey into a progressive hinterland, where deconstructed vocals, invigorating melodies and orbiting effects surface from their rhythmic architecture, onwards to a peak-time finale.

The inspiration to this piece came to me from the tranquil spirit of Ilyosta Island and the ceaseless winds blowing among the olive trees here, penetrating into every living being. Winds coming from the north revive people with their harshness and coldness, while the southwester wind softens the heart, lightens the soul with its warm breezes.

In this piece, I first aim to elevate you with powerful basslines and synths, filling your body with energy, then intend to soften your heart and empty your mind with soulful ethnic vocals.

At times this song is sharp, intense, and dynamic, while at other times equally soft, emotional, and fluid. Overall, my song is energetic and full of life. 

It will evoke the memories of your inner journey and will whisper the power of letting go into you.

One evening, as the world outside dimmed into the quiet of dusk, he began to play with new patterns. The familiar pads and arpeggios that had filled his tracks now felt too soft, too expected. His fingers traced the keys with more purpose, searching for something different, something that would shake the room with a raw, untamed energy.

And then, the growl came. A deep, rumbling sound that rose up from his machines, vibrating the air. It wasn’t a note—it was a feeling. The synths twisted into something primal, an animalistic roar that stirred something deep within him. It wasn’t planned; it simply happened. And he let it happen.

The track built from there, a journey of sound that pushed and pulled in unpredictable ways. Each layer felt like a new discovery, a deeper dive into the unknown. He wasn’t simply making music anymore; he was uncovering something vast, something he had always known but never fully embraced. The growl of the synths became a heartbeat—a lion’s call to the world, echoing through the room, through the space between him and the machines.

As the track neared its end, something changed. The intensity softened, the growl fading into a delicate melody, subtle yet full of emotion. It felt like a quiet acknowledgment of something beautiful, something fleeting. In the stillness of those final notes, a connection sparked—an unfamiliar yet powerful feeling.

Across the distance of time and space, in a city far away, a woman’s presence lingered in the sound. It wasn’t anything he could explain, but it was there—a warmth, a pull, as if their energies had briefly intertwined through the music itself.

He named the track Find Yourself, a reflection of the journey he had unknowingly taken, both in sound and in spirit. The upload was simple, just another step in the unfolding of something larger than he could fully grasp. But deep down, he knew this moment was the start of something new.

The lion had found his voice.

Following INVŌKER’s ‘Superhero’, When We Dip XYZ is proud to present ‘The Chaos Inside’ from Imeïa, who has already been spotlighted on imprints such as Isolate, Frau Blau and Sum Over Histories. On this EP, the enigmatic producer blends impactful grooves, uncharacteristic delays, poignant textures and creative use of silence.

Things start off with ‘Le Pire Pour La Fin’, a deep cut which is led by a slow, drawn-out melody which recedes in favour of the bassline and noise-heavy plucks.
 
The eponymous ‘The Chaos Inside’ brings the energy levels a few notches up. The layered pad and choir initiate a progression of epic proportions over the simple, driving groove. The impacts, risers and glitches all accentuate this feeling of immensity. 

On ‘Elegancia’, the doubled kicks and resounding vocals set the scene for the larger than life lead synth. A subtle acid touch on the bass completes the tune. 

The last track, ‘Blue Romance’ displays the clearest vocals we’ve seen from Imeïa so far. The line ‘I don’t wanna be a fool, I just wanna be a tool’ is repeated throughout the intro and outro. A screaming guitar announces the highlight of the tune, with its uplifting bass pattern and toy-like percussions. An alternate dub mix is also available.

Olivier Fraikin, performing under the alias Soelaas, is an electronic music producer and performer whose sound blends enigmatic melodies with found sounds to create a unique style of melodic, ethereal, and organic techno. His music is more than just sound; it is a journey designed to offer solace and comfort to listeners, helping them navigate through the challenges of life. The name Soelaas, meaning "solace" in Dutch, reflects his mission to provide emotional relief and connection through his art.

Born on September 22, 1990, in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium, Olivier’s musical journey began with a strong connection to rhythm and texture. From a young age, he explored traditional instruments like the djembe and didgeridoo, which helped shape his understanding of percussive dynamics and organic sound. These early experiences with world instruments would become foundational in his creative approach to electronic music.

At age 17, in 2007, Olivier began exploring minimal techno under the DJ name Duif-inc. During this time, he created sets using Virtual DJ, experimenting with mixing and blending different tracks and sharpening his ear for sound design and rhythm. Later on, he transitioned to Traktor, allowing him to further refine his DJing style and explore deeper sonic textures.

In 2015, Olivier began a new chapter of musical exploration with a co-production project called Animalisch, alongside his friend Kinky Brain Monkey (now known as Lavy). The project was raw, imaginative, and genre-bending, allowing both artists to push boundaries and experiment freely with sound. This collaboration sparked a deeper dive into electronic production tools and marked a natural evolution in Olivier’s creative journey.

Olivier taught himself how to produce music using Ableton, Maschine, and his growing arsenal of synthesizers. Through trial and error, hours of practice, and a deep passion for sound design, he developed the skills to craft his own unique sound. Inspired by the works of Daft Punk, metal, ska-dub-reggae punk, and later by Stephan Bodzin, Extrawelt, Soul Button, and Clawz SG, Soelaas became captivated by the potential of synthesizers, fascinated by their ability to create expansive, atmospheric worlds. He also drew inspiration from Goa music, appreciating its hypnotic rhythms and intricate melodies, which subtly influenced his sound design. His background in beatboxing remains central to his music, with vocal percussion often woven seamlessly into his electronic compositions.

Beyond music, Olivier is also passionate about abstract painting. He finds that his creativity flows naturally across both mediums, using visual art as a means to explore and express complex emotions and ideas. Just as his music explores intricate layers and textures, his paintings reflect the same sense of depth, abstraction, and emotional exploration, creating a visual counterpart to his sonic landscape.

Soelaas’ music reflects his personal mission: to help listeners find peace and solace amid the struggles of life. Through the use of synthesizers, he creates lush, evolving melodies and textures that form the backbone of his compositions. His tracks are carefully crafted with layered synthesized sounds alongside found sounds—recordings of nature, urban life, and everyday objects—that add depth, atmosphere, and an earthy, human element to his music.

In July 2024, he released the EP Awake on the Threerecords label, which was well-received for its atmospheric textures and driving rhythms.

On December 21, 2024, he was featured on the Dit Klingt Jut talent album, further highlighting his growing reputation in the electronic music scene.

On January 10, 2025, he released the EP Essence on Inner Symphony, diving deep into emotional expression and sonic exploration.

On January 24, 2025, he followed up with his debut full-length album Salvus ab Inferis, a powerful collection that spans a wide emotional spectrum.

His EP Balance came out on Be Adult Music on February 17, 2025, reinforcing his commitment to emotional resonance through music.

On March 28, 2025, his track Leverage of the Soul was released on Steyoyoke’s Perception Vol. 11 [SYYKPERC011], marking a deeply atmospheric contribution to the series.

Most recently, on July 11, 2025, Soelaas released a hauntingly beautiful remix: Nohar – Unstable (Soelaas Remix) on Inner Symphony, showcasing his ability to transform original material into something profoundly moving and emotionally rich.
