HOLY GRAIL ALERT!!! Following on 2021’s massive reboot of Midnight Magic’s seminal classic Beam Me Up, Razor-N-Tape have now unearthed a bit of NYC indie disco history with “I Found Love”, which the band co-produced with Tommie Sunshine.

Although recorded over 10 years ago in Midnight Magic’s nascent early period that produced many of their legendary hits, the song never received an official release; until now it has been heard only by select ears and lucky concert-goers.  The package comes with a grip of luminous remixes by Dimitri From Paris & DJ Rocca, Sophie Lloyd, Perel and Derrick Carter, some solicited at the time of recording and some brand new, but all exceptionally fresh!

Here are some words about the song by the band:

"I Found Love" was recorded in a fever on the heels of releasing "Beam Me Up." New York dance music wizard Tommie Sunshine approached us about a co-write saying we should go as big as possible. So we did--it is one of our all time favorite vocal performances from our singer, Tiffany Roth. We had big plans, too, for a release but nothing quite felt right until meeting the Razor N Tape crew almost a decade later. Finally the stage is set, the lights are on, and we're ready. This song is very special to us because it is the last un-released recording featuring our late bandmate Jason Disu. This release is dedicated to him and his family.

London’s Matt Ryder, AKA Odee X, kickstarts REK’D’s 2025 with the ‘X-Ray’ EP this January, following the release of his ‘So Hot It Hurts’ EP on Rekids aﬃliate Don Rimini’s Bunkaball.

The ‘X-Ray’ EP’s title track sees Odee X place a powerful piano melody at the centre among bleepy synths and clever drum arrangements, a short but eﬀective vocal appearing before its frenzied drop, omitted in the instrumental version. The infectious ‘Culture Dub’ then comes in with a carefully built groove of organic percussion, playful sampling, and plenty of echo to round out this classy peak-time House EP rife with dub influences.

Formerly known as B.U.U.G, Odee X has released on labels like Street Tracks and Nightmayors, with his contemporary takes on House and T echno winning the support of artists like Laurent Garnier, Jamie Jones, and Marco Faraone while receiving plays on BBC Introducing.

Matt Edwards launched REK’D in October 2024 to release no-nonsense House music without the limitations of parent label Rekids. So far, they’ve released dancefloor-ready EPs from Italian Theory Of Swing boss St. David and Nervous Records alum James Juke, with Odee X now landing on the label ahead of what will surely be a jam-packed year of quality releases for the REK’D imprint.

Australian producer Luke Alessi is back on DJ Tennis’ iconic Life and Death label with his latest record, the ‘After Five’ EP.

Picture a roaring 1920s debauched, excessive and riotous cocktail party with screaming brass moments meets 1970s funk and disco grooves that loop and tumble you into a hypnotic state while Barry White's voice guides you through the whole experience. ‘After Five’ was designed to make you feel sexy, groovy and a little bit wild. 

A sonic journey through moody elegance and late-night allure, the release is complemented by remixes from boundary-pushing producers Pablo Bozzi and Aldonna.

The title track, ‘After Five’, released in November 2024 to an avalanche of praise, proving Luke Alessi’s knack for crafting sophisticated beats that resonate across dancefloors. Named as  Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune on his coveted BBC Radio 1 show as well as over ten placements on Spotify and Apple Music editorial playlists, and heavyweight DJ support from tastemakers like DJ Tennis, Dixon, La Fleur, Laurent Garnier, Jimi Jules, and Demi Riquísimo, it’s clear his track has struck a universal chord.

Pablo Bozzi’s remix followed this up and came out on January 17th, putting his signature Italo flex on the title track turning it into a hedonistic and raucous party anthem. Known for her idiosyncratic sound that mirrors her deep sonic interest for the nineties and early noughties, Aldonna finds her sweet spot between House, Progressive and Trance with her remix of ‘Day Dreams of Beaches’ reflecting exactly this. The full EP—an irresistible meld of two original records and reimaginings—is out now, poised to set the tone for 2025.

Already part of the Life and Death family since ‘Bey Beh’ and ‘Dale Dale’, Luke Alessi’s music sits in its own lane, refusing to be pigeonholed into any conventional genre. A frequent collaborator of Chloe Caillet, Carlita, Rüfus Du Sol, and many more established talents, 2024 has been a huge year for Alessi, with noticeable DJ debuts from Mexico to Asia via Europe and North America.

Will & Ink’s latest is a remix EP that finds Bambounou and Simo Cell team up for four reworked versions of Yaleesa Halls Woodall LP. Bambounou is a Paris-based hybrid techno and house producer who has long been close to the 50 Weapons label, and Simo Cell is an experimental artist whose music finds a home on labels like Livity Sound and Wisdom Teeth. 

Up first, Bambounou goes in and turns ‘Woodall 0217’ into a menacing, stripped back track with a soft flurry of toms and freaky sine waves all underpinned by lurching, subliminal bass. Simo Cell then steps up for a version of '0224' that is much more dubbed out and for the club. It breezes along on a swaying groove with hi fidelity sound designs colouring the airwaves as the drums scurry down low. Then the pair link up for their Trance-Attitude-Mix of 'Woodall 0406'. Again the drums are weightless down below as they turn in big, sweeping loops and the slivers of silvery synth really electrify the whole thing as they flash about like fireflies. Finally, they remix the same track again but remove the drums, instead making it a paranoid and dark, spares and suggestive minimal number that is wholly from the future. These two have a very specific sound and one that sounds like little else, a solid match with Yaleesa Hall and the Will & Ink imprint, as this EP proves.

Elina Shorokhova aka SOELA (@soelaela) is a multi-talented artist hailing from southern Russia who now calls Berlin her home. It is there where she continues to build her presence in the community through her live and DJ sets alongside documenting the local scene and artists through her lens as a photographer.

LILY EP may be 4 tracks but as a collected whole, sounds and feels like an album when heard from beginning to end. The title track emits her talent as a pianist by setting a tone of gracefulness that is carried throughout the EP – broken beats float in and out of dub drenched ambience that flows with cascading vocals. CLOSE YOUR EYES echos a spirit of Detroit House with refreshing new intensities. Again, her vocals caress the track but as an incredibly catchy hook. WHITE BECOMES BLACK shows her own interpretation of dub techno and combines that into a classic house beat. I HAVE A DREAM sounds like she bridges all of the previous track elements into a single whole which makes this tune the perfect closing track for any DJ set and of this release. A steady low-end groove keeps the ricocheting snares and somber synths cruising to an up-tempo rhythm.

‘Link Common’ is the secret alias of a producer from Wales in the United Kingdom who runs his own label & has quite a healthy following with a gang of smart detroit-y & idm vibe electro tunes released under his main artist pseudonym. Opting for a change of gears via the title Link Common he wanders into ether realms of fat breaks and swirling ambience, and it's a decision that does not disappoint. Titular track Cloud Words from this Link Common double header channels some mid-90s Good Looking rec flavour with its undulating pads and angular beats, and the breakdown is mesmerizing. On the flip, “Loop Call” (originally titled “Jam Toast”) is quite simply a thumper and thumpers. Alias or no, we’re pumped to have these tracks sit strongly at the tail end of 2019, firm in the canon of clipp.art belters.
