Picture this. It was the hottest day of the year & the mid afternoon sun was high in the sky.
Many people had been up all night, some were just arriving in the fields in Norfolk.

The Old Gramophone tent was one of the few stages with some refuge from the sun so I played super chill, trippy & Dreamy with lots of Reggae, slow Disco & downtempo dance. There are also lots of unreleased edits & version excursions which you won’t hear anywhere else.

I mourn the fact that there are no longer chill-out rooms in the clubs so this was a chance to play some music that is good to lollygag and trip out to or dance slowly if the desire takes you. 
I brought it up gradually because I don’t have  much chill out music on my stick cos there are no chill out rooms in clubs these days. And yes I am mostly Nick The Stick these days... 

I picked it up a bit more during the 3rd hour as Sassy J was up next so wanted to give her the best chance possible of getting a dance floor happening (was still real hot though).
I played a fun party set on the Thursday night but sadly the recording of that was corrupted.

On the occasion of the Radio Thalflug weekend, I played a two-hour djset with tracks from the ECM universe only. 

The music comes from Meredith Monk, Azimuth, Rainer Brüninghaus, Eberhard Weber, John Surman, Pat Metheny, Steve Tibbetts, Tamia & Pierre Favre, Codona, Nana Vasconcelos, Steve Eliovson, Veljo Tormis, Ketil Bjornstad, Don Cherry.

ECM was founded by Manfred Eicher in Munich in 1969 and soon developed into a melting pot of interesting musical fusions. Jazz, folk, classical music, various African, Asian, South American and European sound idioms, minimalism, ambient, avant-garde and electronic music came together in the ECM cosmos. Artists such as Don Cherry, Steve Reich, Meredith Monk, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Jon Hassell, Eberhard Weber, Carla Bley, Keith Jarrett and Arvo Pärtt have found a home there.

Laurent Garnier ist nicht nur der dritte Pariser, der Ramona in diesem Monat beehrt, sondern auch der – mit Verlaub – sagenhafteste. Im Manchester der späten Achtziger hat es den begeisterten Musikliebhaber und damaligen Gastronomie-Azubi per Zufall hinter die Plattenteller eines namenslosen Clubs verschlagen, wo er den Hunger der anwesenden Meute mit allerlei Gedöns zwischen Abba und Zappa stillen musste. Nachdem er sich dort die Hörner abgestoßen hatte, folgte der nächste Club mit besserem Musikprogramm und auch heute noch klingendem Namen.
In der Hacienda durfte Garnier neben Mike Pickering und Graeme Park an dem Soundtrack einer Stadt Teil haben, die zwischen New Order und den Happy Mondays schlichtweg in afroamerikanische Tanzmusik verliebt war. So drehten die überspannten Clubkids umhüllt von der schwarz-gelben Nuklearästhetik des Clubs, Woche für Woche Pirouetten zu Songs von Carly Simon, Jomanda, oder dem FPI Project und Tracks von Adonis, Derrick May und DJ Pierre.
Zurück in Paris und derart geschult, wollte Laurent Garnier auch Frankreich den „Summer Of Love“ bringen. Einem Club namens „Wake Up“ und seinem nicht zu bremsenden Enthusiasmus sei Dank, sollte er nicht nur dieses Vorhaben in die Tat umsetzen, sondern auf dem Label FNAC bzw. F-Com Platten veröffentlichen, Techno in Frankreich installieren, mit seinem Plattenkoffer durch die Welt reisen und schließlich mit „Electrochoc“ ein Buch veröffentlichen, von dem sich einige DJ-Autoren ein Scheibchen abschneiden könnten. Eine der letzten wirklich großen DJ-Figuren unserer Zeit, dabei grundsympathisch und zwischen Techno und King Tubby auch noch musikalisch versiert wie kaum ein zweiter DJ. Was für ein homme du métier!

Since 2009 Serge is one of the residents of the LOW party series, one of the highlights of Ukranian Nightlife. His mixes have been spread all over the web including contributions to Noncollective, ANOE and Balearic Social .... to name a few. Finally he made one for the bin too : )

As part of Berlin-Neukölln collective O.H.I.D, Wet Delights ad Discobedience.Brln DJ and Promoter Sören Miehe aka Sooz is flying the flag for the open-minded free-for-all approach of the city’s notorious underground scene. Born and raised in Bremen, Sören organized his first parties in the Rhine Main region. Inspired heavily by the sounds and selections featured at clubs like Robert Johnson his sets were devoted first and foremost to all kinds of twists to the house formula, injected with a healthy dose of disco. After moving to Berlin he eventually got in touch with the enclave around the illegal club Raum. He joined the ranks of O.H.I.D (Our Hobby Is Different), Wet Delights and Discobedience.Brln and has been a resident DJ at their parties and integral part of the booking team ever since. He is regularly invited into the guest slots of parties like Horse Meat Disco and plays DJ sets all over the country.
