So here’s the title track.
It was inspired by an incredibly destructive storm that passed through our neighborhood.
It took out trees, roofs, cars and the power for several days.
That night during the storm, our kids came into our room completely frightened as the wind roared, tree branches smacking the windows, and an almost constant flashing of lightning and bursting thunder.
All we could do was curl up in the bed together and focus on the least threatening voice of the storm, surprisingly, it was the sound of water.
Afterwards, I couldn’t get that thought out of my head.
I kept thinking how everything and anything on this earth is affected and shaped by water.
That the sound of it had a calming effect, even though it can be destructive.
So give this one a listen with the idea of how water, clears, cleans, everything, and can sometimes give comfort during the worst of storms.

Everything

A fun blues tune that takes a slight humorous look at all the craziness in the world and turns it around by pressing “command Z” on life.
Oh, wouldn’t it be so simple to just clear all of your troubles away and start fresh and new.
That’s the implication of this song, but things are so rarely if not ever that simple.

It’s just a back water country blues instrumental that “jumps” and “bounces” around and goes well with a good bourbon.

Ok, so this is another one those “back water country blues” instrumental songs that sonically narrates the saga of an opossum crossing the road, or at least, gives the story a theme song.
It may not “jump” and “bounce” around as the first track of this album, however, it does go well with a good bourbon.

Opossum Walk

Shaun McMullen has many years of experience playing music professionally as a guitarist, singer, songwriter, arranger, and teacher.
He has a bachelors degree in music with an emphasis in jazz and classical guitar, and can cover many different styles of music.
Although he is new to the digital scene in music distribution, songwriting is nothing new.
He has been creating songs all of his life.
“When I was a kid, my family would go on long road trip vacations crossing many states.
When a radio station went out of range, I would close my eyes and listen to music in my head.
It was a fun way to pass the miles, however,
I eventually figured out that this was an important tool for creating songs."
When asked why he writes,
“The motivation for me is always the same, to create something that captures the feeling and the essence of the moment, and to have fun expressing these moments while performing. It is such an addictive rush."
