*Warning: Spoilers for Horizon: Forbidden West ahead!*

This piece is based on Aloy’s Theme. Aloy is the protagonist of the Horizon series, where a post-apocalyptic Earth is habited by primitive tribes and fearsome machines. Aloy’s theme originally has a lush, organic, and somewhat bittersweet mood. I decided for this arrangement, I wanted to rearrange her theme to fit alongside the main antagonists of the game, a shadowy organization of technologically advanced people who arrived on Earth from the stars.

Their music is characterized by synthetic sounding instruments, glitches, and lots of delay/reverb that creates a moody, futuristic feel. I also brought in elements of the organization’s music like an ostinato motif that plays in a few of their songs, such as The Sky Remade and Unity.

I also played a lot with effects, using different delays, echos, and reverbs, and recording my tracks to audio so I could reverse parts and remove the attack from some notes. I also cut some sections so they’d stutter, and I also used a lot of samples to provide texture. I used a lot of volume, filtering, and drive automation throughout the track to weave parts in and out.

Rainbow Connection (Kermit the Frog Cover)

This song is part of an unlikely  collaboration with synth pop duo Eloquent. The samples are from a speech given by Lana Wachowski's acceptance speech for the HRC Visibility Award in 2012. This speech, this video, would literally save my life.

Soft Charisma is an Error Folk project from Scott Kingsley Clark. The name Soft Charisma was created from an alliteration of his first and last name. Error Folk is about accepting the imperfections of life, recordings are not perfect and some times errors don't have to be bad. See Daniel Johnston for an example of what may be most similar to Error Folk.
