"One of the most famous associations of the Deadly Nightshade is its connection to mythology, folklore and witchcraft. In antiquity, the plant was associated with the cult of Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and ecstasy, and it was allegedly mixed for a drink that could induce a trance in worshippers. On a more sinister note, it also features in the myth of Odysseus, whose men were - legend has it - poisoned with nightshade and then turned into pigs by the witch Circe.

In times of the Roman Empire, Deadly Nightshade was rumoured to be Livia’s ‘weapon of choice’ to poison her husband, the Emperor Augustus. Allegedly, the Roman troops also coated arrow-heads with a paste made from the plant to poison their enemies.

Deadly Nightshade featured heavily in so-called witches’ ingredients and was closely associated with the Devil. For example, parents on occasion told their children that if they ate the plant’s berries they would meet the Devil in person - this was a tale told to help them avoid the berries. It was also apparently one of the ingredients that allowed witches’ to fly, something they experienced in hallucinations caused by a combination of plants."

Warning, please do not drive or operate machinery while listening to this track which contains ASMR tiggers and was recorded in a frequency other than the 440Hz of most music played on modern radio stations. Always listen to our tracks at a lower volume, as well, preferably through headphones for maximum effect. 

We created this track to soothe the pain we've felt... physically, emotionally, and spiritually throughout our body in light of the elections, Covid Chaos, and propensity for discord within us, since we don't agree with the majority of outspoken divisiveness we encounter when leaving our home... since we choose to read from a variety of sanctioned and unsanctioned resources... rather than drinking the kool-aid poured for us from the skewed news and ever-increasingly exposition of the failings of the "sanctioned information only" western education systems.

We asked spirit to guide this project, after the grief we were feeling upon returning home from voting on election day. When we're a gender fluid, lesbian, disabled, veteran in a female physicality... the weight of each of those "minority statuses" BEing within us while approaching, entering, standing in line, and voting amidst signage, campaign representatives we encountered outside as we entered and left the polling center to cast our vote amongst a hugely biased conservative majority who have no problem exercising their "right to free speech," while neglecting their responsibility to extend those same "rights" to "all the people..." can create so much pain and tension within us. We asked our angels, guides, and ancestors to take the pain we were feeling and use it to show us how to express it and release it in a healthy way. 

This was the most amazing experience we've had to date in creating a piece. Every note we played and recorded was Divinely guided and perfectly placed, the first night we worked on this piece. We only made one small adjustment of placement to one segment within one of the instrument tracks. The second night, as we progressed through the same guided request and worked towards completing this piece in record time, compared to most of our works, WE FELL ASLEEP 3 TIMES!!! And, we didn't fall asleep during the relaxing trail out; but, during the hypnotic percussive sections!!! (We have to caveat that we aren't a scientist... so we cannot for certain say whether we were asleep or if we simply entered an extreme trance; but, we were "OUT!!!") We "came back," before the song ended... and from what we've learned these past few months... that's more indicative of coming out of a trance; because, if you're asleep, you typically don't awaken before a meditative piece ends; but, you continue sleeping once the song has ended. So, as we stated, we cannot tell you for certain which was the case. We can share that whatever happened, we have felt like we had some sort of serious transformative experience while creating this track with our angels, guides, and ancestors... and since those three instances... we have more inner peace and calm than we've ever experienced, as an adult who's experienced multiple traumas. So, as we state at the beginning, please never drive or operate machinery when listening to our creations. We hope you have as equally a transformative experience.

I wrote this piece from a quiet three-note idea and let it breathe. It grows, struggles for a moment, then finds its way home and leaves a little light at the end. If it holds you for four minutes, it did what it should.
