This is my set recorded live at Harvest Festival 2014.  I opened the new tech and house structure built this year, called Crystal 6.  I went for a more happy, melodic, uplifting, groovy and fun vibe with this set, since the weather at the festival had been wet and cold and muddy, so I thought we could all use a little pick-me-up to get the party started.

This version is available for download, as it's the one WITHOUT the fairy tale intro at the start, it just gets right into the music.  Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed playing it.   :)

What do we do when we thirst for firey fastness yet ground in tender, intentional slowness?

Is home in the moment you stop running and dance? Is home in our eyes? Is home The House? Is home in the Ancient familiar or is it in that exciting sense of newness? 

Maybe home is in the music. Maybe it's my body. Maybe it’s just everywhere if we want it to be…

Good thing humans can have multiple homes if we’re able and encouraged to tend to them.

This week Hexstatic in the mix as they celebrate the release of new single ‘Gammera’ this Monday, the first release on Robin Hexstatic’s new imprint Lower Level Records.
    The mix sees some of the influence affecting this direction and takes in tracks from ‘Gammera’ remixers Akira Kiteshi, with his awesome take on the The Pinball Number Count, and George Lenton, bringing some old, cold rocking samples bang up to date. Beautifully complex crunk from Reso starts us off and leads us through releases from pop pioneers Gorrillaz and Massive Attack,.. ending up-tempo with some older faves from Pantha Du prince and Joy Orbison. Gammera single out this Monday 22nd, with a special Bandcamp bundle featuring all three mixes and the Gammera remix iPod video.

We move into Hour 2 and for our 25th Anniversary we encouraged guests to deliver something different. This week Luke Vibert (who has appeared many times on the show) does exactly that with a high octane opening section showcasing the edit kings from the late eighties. Often found on the b-side of club records, editors such as Omar Santana, Carlos Berrios,  Chep Nunez and the Latin Rascals transformed tracks with quick fire cuts for artists like Rochelle, Corina, Bad Boy Orchestra, Stone and Sweet Sensation who are all featured and we get a Luke Vibert treatment on top. Brand New Funk and Ethel Beatty offer a respite from all this, as well as a sublime gospel track from Pastor TL Barrett, before closing with Omar Souleyman, Tipper and Tomita.

DJ Food looks back once again for our 25th Anniversary slot taking 'Free Comic Book Day' (this Saturday, May 4th) as his theme to present tracks that feature references to comic book characters. The Marvel and DC worlds of Superman, Batman and Spiderman feature heavily with everyone from Snoop Dogg to Cliff Richard revealing their passion for Caped Crusaders and Wall Crawlers. But the more obscure feature too with three nods to Judge Dredd, two for Flash Gordon and even Elton John singing the praises of Dan Dare. DJ Food will have a piece of artwork in a new exhibition called Image Duplicator - looking at the original comic artists that Lichtenstein copied for his most famous work - opening on May 16th at Orbital Comics in London.
