Eye of the Minotaur - collage 001 is a collection of artists working in varying musical practices that are channeling the solitude of mutantess, strolling through the familiar yet unfamiliar halls of the uncanny, refusing ordinary structures of the mundane, grasping the cold humor of cynicism, basking in the dichotomy of cosmos and chaos, and invoking the energies of Eris and Eros. 

Setting the ground is Ciarra Black, a Berlin based New Yorker who makes no apologies for her bare knuckled soundscapes. DuPont Street is a ritualistic unification of discordant entities that summons visions of Pazuzu (lord of the demons) and Inanna (goddess of love) fornicating beneath The Tree of Life. Razor edged synthesizers slice through the atmosphere with the precision of an avenging angel’s flaming sword, while a psychedelic drum code activates ritual movement of the body. 

As the needle passes beyond the next threshold it is met by a towering totem, bristling within the illuminated light of the sonic astral plane. Erected from the foundational matter that birthed the Detroit electro punk sound, Eyes Up continues to add to the narrative that is drenched in deranged electronics intuitively mangled in a post punk tradition. Dystopian percussive rhythms generate an unorthodox domain where muffled utterances present an aural Rorschach exam. Could this be the riddle of the Sphinx, or an ancient spectral being that possesses secret knowledge. Only its creator, Stallone the Reducer, holds the key. 

Fixed at the axis of the journey, Perfect Headache Forever, a mystic operating within the DIY spaces of Chicago, levitates on a transcendental mass that is equally melancholic and optimistic. Her voice hosts a strength equal to a pantheon of titans. Armed with a magical electronic musical box, she weaves narratives that are prophetic in their delivery. Itself Ecstatic is a voyage through a misty atmospheric soundscape that begins at one point, but ends in a distant other, in accordance with a system of divination. 

Gazing into the murky waters of the oracle’s cauldron, Circling Vultures, (a collaborative effort by Justin Aulis Long and Kenneth Zawacki) channel and evoke the spirits of Antonin Artaud and Geroges Bataille. The poet’s voice, engaged in an act of mutilation and self cannibalization, howls while projecting visions of sacred conspiracies, sensations of vertigo while peaking over the edge of the abyss, and the looming weight acquired from the solitude of mutantness (the minotaur alone, sitting silently at the center of the labyrinth). Accompanying the mystical bard’s verbal declaration is a triggered mechanized synth that roars with the vitality of Cold War era Wave music, which is then juxtaposed against applications of  loose and improved keyboard playing. The artist’s hand is revealed against the calculated actions of the machines. 


Bringing the document to its finale, Libby Del Barrio, a multi disciplinary artist based in San Antonio, performs a closing ritual in a manner that only she knows how. Setting fire to the Elysium Fields while personified as Moze Pray, Del Barrio rejects plastic narratives that aim to pacify. No Tears, is an unapologetic account of life’s feedback loop around the Wheel of Fortune. Sacrificial actions through ceremonial performance reveals a gateway founded on truth and torment. Moze Pray’s ability to combine musical production, poetic vocalization and ritualistic body performance is charged by chaos and amalgamates into a product of pure expression that defies the rose colored filters that aim to conceal the harsh realities.

Shcuro is the alias of João Ervedosa a DJ, producer and graphic designer based in Lisbon. He also runs the record labels Sombra and Paraíso, makes music as Jose Acid and hosts a show on Rádio Quântica. His first contact with a DJ setup happened at age 15, and that’s when Shcuro decided to buy his own turntables and mixer; and started producing his own beats, too. He’s since released music on Basal, Circus Maximus, Obscuur Techno, Golden Mist Records and his most recent collaboration with Photonz for Future Déjà Vu.

‘Particle of Memory’ is a hypnotic 6-track EP that explores new territories in contemporary dance music. Sonically Shcuro paints his sounds blending moody techno with industrial noises alongside fast, apocalyptic electro and breakbeat. He is influenced by Portuguese rave culture that was born in the mid-90s at Lisbon clubs Alcântara-Mar and Kremlin and the country’s first electronic label Kaos Records. Shcuro continues to expand and morph this rich dance heritage to create something entirely different. The bouncy, lead track “Afterlife” features vocals and lyrics by London's ELLES followed by a Decadent Dub rework. All songs have been mastered by George Horn at Fantasy Studios. Housed in a die-cut jacket designed by Eloise Leigh reminiscent of ‘90s escape/sci-fi films with futuristic bright pink pop flourishes.

TL Premiere : Darkmode - Fields Of Calantha [Biotech Recordings]

Toksynna is a new label with a broad style thanks to the immense possibilities it can bring, or can be developed, with the experimental electronic music. For this reason, its line of action is going to be wide and at the same time homogeneous, as each release can be located in different environments and in different ways of understanding sound expression.

The first album perfectly channels the infectious and degraded image of the label. We can say that visually it is conceived in the image and likeness of this new artist, of which we do not know his origin and that it represents in a reliable way the experimental line that this label is going to follow, directed to genres such as advanced electronica, IDM, noise, ambient or industrial. 

Kick & Cut is an 11-track work with a clear atmosphere, charged with tiny particles of volatile, minimalist and radioactive electronics. Its sound can be perfectly linked to different situations associated with nuclear contamination, from the warnings of Geiger counters to environments unsuitable for the life of any organism.

In this strange year's ending, and to ward off the curse, Serendip Lab offers you a nice end of year gift ! 

Unfortunately for his 10th birthday the festival did not happen this year. Nevermind, a compilation project with all invited artists since 2010 was born and what a good surprise people did answer the call : more than 90 tracks, reflecting the festival / label eclecticism and its evolution. 
From Pierre Bastien's mechanical music, present for the first year, to KK NULL's cyberpunk, whose cassette was our last release, very diverse scenes and styles are represented : psychedelic rock, post punk, improvised, concrete, industrial or rave music, synthwave, IDM, noise, rap, électro… Coming from all around France (Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Rennes, Lille...), Europe (Suede, Denmark, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Italy), or the world (USA, Australia, Indonesia, Japan), pioneers or new comers are mixed, as usual, in a huge and generous party, like a big dadaist mutant family.

So thanks a lot to the hundreds of artists who have participate to the adventure since all these amazing years, to the friends, volunteers, a lot of love to the artists in this compilation, and even more to Patrice Curtillat for the mastering, and Jean Turner for the artwork, and at last a stream of love to you all, hope to meet you soon, best wishes !

The founder of KlubKid Records a fresh club imprint in the Berlin scene, has a lot in store in this mix featuring unreleased tracks from KlubKid freinds and other goodies.
