Stemming from the Kalahari Oyster Cult family, One Eye Witness is a tight-knit crew of kindred musical outlets with a shared ideology. They act as the missing link between like-minded record labels and artists looking to push quality over quantity, offering these imprints a solid foundation for their next creative undertakings by facilitating vinyl production and distribution. This month's show is mixed by Sohrab repping the label to celebrate the inaugural V/A, due later this month. Expect a superb blend of ambient, trippy electronica, electro & tech bits.

Dear Undersounders, 

We are back on our podcast series with a new mix from London based Sohrab. He is one half of Get Well, a duo of music lovers and keen diggers who unpretentiously put on quality underground parties in the Capital with the right approach.

Through the years Sohrab has carved his own style of digging and djing, not sticking to any particular trend: subtle, nostalgic and minimalistic. We are very happy to welcome him to our podcast series.

Following his debut release on kindred label Marginal Returns, Undersound is very happy to present a new EP by London-based producer and close friend @sohrab_dj. 

This EP showcases his wide ranging influences, with a diverse sound palette, while demonstrating his already-established personal aesthetic. 
The EP opens with “The Fool”, a steady four-to-the-floor track with esoteric eastern-tinged melodies, and continues with “Vertical Alignment”, a bassline-led emotional trip with interlocking evolving harmonies. 

The flip offers two contrasting moods: the rougher “Resolution”, a fast-paced late-night burner, and “Digital Bliss”, whose soothing synths evoke old school Goa vibes.

Berlin-based label Undersound occupies an odd, nostalgic space in regards to the music they put out. The beloved London-based party played a huge part in many people's musical education and created cherished memories in the mid-2010s. Even though the series is now defunct, it's easy to create a sentimental link to the current music being released by the label and how that finds it's placed in the memories from those bygone parties with tracks such as their previous releases. Casting its net far and wide, from Australia to Finland, via the UK and Tunisia, One Eye Witness’ maiden VA drop gathers a quartet of the international producers who’ve come to pique our interest in recent months.

Starting with Tunis-based up-and-comer HearThug, who steps up with “Alien All Too Alien” - a steadily pulsatory, 303-marinated dasher interlarded with flocks of pugnacious talk box stabs and rattling drums, making it a proper DJ-friendly weapon for any hour of the day. Helsinki’s Jeku follows up with the tribal acid churner ‘Aftermath’, laying down a sleek, sub-heavy earworm prepped on submerging systems from under the deepest layers of the spectrum with its fluttering melody, sturdy basswork and FX-laden synthesis.

Flip the coin over and here goes London-based groove manipulator Sohrab, entering the melee with ‘Ataraxia’ - a hypnotic slice of stealth mode, Gaussian-blurred dub techno that does exactly what’s written on the tin. The final number ’Surrender’ comes courtesy of rising Sydney-based producer Cousin, who treats us to a tripped-out ethereal riddim making the rounds betwixt the vaporous serenity of ambient and deep dub vibrations. The endearing final brushstroke to OEW’s first Zeitgeistian snapshot.
