Take a trip back to the early 90s… the internet wasn’t a thing, CDs were relatively new and hip hop was rugged and raw. Dedicated to the sound of hip hop during this time, Rugged Fidelity is a throwback album using the legendary Emu SP1200 and crates upon crates of vinyl records. The result is a nostalgic blend of boombap beats that capture the gritty vibe of an era that is long gone, but not forgotten…

This album is a collection of beats made from 'fragments' / unused samples on my MPC2000XL. The majority of these samples were processed through the SP12 Turbo, Ensoniq EPS 16+ or the Tascam 244 for that raw hip hop sound. All tracks were completed during summer 2021 and were heavily influenced by days at the beach and in the sun.
