Celebrating our tenth release on the imprint, Austrian-based producer Gnischrew comes through with some luscious dub-soaked 140. The @subaudiorecords record label owner is known for sculpting highly detailed soundscapes and pairing these shifting auditory images with the deep grooves of Dubstep and European Dub rhythm sections.

Unlike our previous releases, SASDUB10 will be housed in a thick card sleeve, stamped with a design by Welsh-based Ink artist Joe Bevan (InkVoid) inspired by the surrealist mind of Salvador Dalí.

A - Shackles
Having been a dub for a hot minute by this point, Shackles will catch the eye of anyone familiar with Gnischrew's recent Frozen Plates mix. This is a masterfully crafted arrangement of soft and mournful pads, a powerful bassline and a huge reverberant space. The sum of these parts provoke a deeply profound and meditative mood.

B - Ruminate 
Whilst maintaining the 140 speed and style in a consistent manner, Gnischrew moves to a heavily dub/reggae-inspired skank on the flipside of his release. Of course including the obligatory thicc bassline, the producer provides a vortex of complex space arrangements and intensely rhythmic backbeats to complement the summery atmosphere which immediately manifests with a single spin of this composition.

Now entering the cold winter months, South Africa’s own MusiQueTemple brings through a warm, healthy dose of those pure, deep and unadulterated Dub-Techno cuts. Staying true to the original sound pioneered by the legendary Dub-Techno pioneers Basic Channel and DeepChord, MusiQueTemple turns the focus upon the Techno drenched side of the genre, with a meticulous and minimalist intent on the compositions he offers on both of his tracks “Space Signal” and “Dub Basement”.

The man who started it all with us back in 2019 is back once again to christen a new series for Soil and Sound. @Mskruff come through with his meticulously crafted brand of downtempo, analog-drenched Dubtechno. With a vocal, echoing around the dark and smokey atmosphere of the track, only becomes more disjointed and ambient on the B side dub version.

SAS745-01: Skruff - Know What to Say Ft. Ena (clips)

It's been a long time coming, and for our final release of the year we have @Maessounds and @masis0114 collaborating on a single record.

A. Maes & Masis - What Do We Dub
Pairing up for a collaborative A-side track, we have a smooth, bassline-forward minimal piece, indicative of the two artist's respective styles. This one with echoing voices swirling around a deep stomping melody way down in the bassline and a flute reprise towards the end, rounding off of the track beautifully.

B. Maes - Treadin'
Another heavy track, hyped up by the man himself on his Soundcloud using a clip with only question marks for a name, Maes finally returns to Soil and Sound for another outstanding contribution after his debut two years ago. Coming through with a heavy-hitting 120bpm bassline, earth-shattering snares and vocals that reverberate all the way into the very deepest depths of your conscience. Can you tell we're very glad to have him back?

SASDUB12: Maes & Masis - What Do We Dub / Treadin' 10" (clips)

We are incredibly proud to announce to you that @Kami-O will be joining the Soil and Sound familia for our thirteenth instalment in the SASDUB series. Bringing his trademark sonic palette to the table, Kami-O blesses what is Soil and Sound’s first record of 2022 with two masterfully crafted pieces.

A/ Solitude

A perfect storm of influences are on show on the A-side track: “Solitude”. A singular atmospheric voice, echoing a style not unlike Najma Akhtar’s ambient tones, chants along with an immense soundscape that just swallows you up. This is met with a heavy and dynamic hand-drum arrangement that leads you into a lively, yet melancholy, plucked guitar line. At this point the rhythm is joined by a mighty halftime kit and bass, joining the already thunderous hand drum rhythm. Kami-O sculpted a true masterpiece for which we are proud to present to you.

B/ Wander

This time around Kami-O brings through an incredibly tight and melancholic piece of contemporary 2 Step. Approaching the timbres laced into the track with a slight orchestral aesthetic, paired with a clicking, syncopated drum rhythm that’ll cut through and stand out in any mix, and basses that’ll fill any room; Kami-O demonstrates his versatility in composing music across the 140bpm spectrum of genres and styles whilst maintaining his auditory signature in everything he arranges.

Denver-based heavyweight producer RETINA | @retinadubs comes through for our first full-length project on Soil and Sound.
Showcasing his aptitude for dub, dub techno and ambient styles of electronic music, he blesses the imprint with six tracks of ocean-deep exploration of the dub techno palette.
Soon to be available on limited edition cassette tape and digital platforms; preorders for both formats will commence on the 17th of June @ 12PM BST.

RETINA - Over The Air (SASCASS01) clips

Label boss @mrtmrsound finally makes his debut on Soil and Sound with the label's fourteenth 10" instalment.

Side A sees a collaboration with sitarist @tommy-khosla in a deep dub style. The sitar lead-line sings above a spaced-out heavy dub groove, making for a big mediative mood on the track.

Side B switches up the style, although the 130BPM tempo remains the same. This one comes in with a dark and industrial soundscape with large metallic stabs and a lamenting piano line.

For our first release of 2023, we have @noremorsesound providing the goods. This release has been in the making for a long while, and is one we’ve been excited to release into the world.

A/ Friday Night Chefin’

A dark and sorrowful 140 cut, this track strips back the layers and leaves depth and space for the piano and strings to echo around the woozy low end and crispy kit. 

B/ IPA

This one is  a dive into the dub-techno sound, No Remorse has conjured a heavy composition with just a hint of a psychedelic aesthetic, the grooves on this one are irresistible.

SASDUB15: No Remorse - Friday Night Chefin' / IPA 10" (clips)

Soil and Sound is proud to welcome @Qwirkk to the familia for our sixteenth instalment on our 10” dub series. Bringing those classic ‘purple’ grime & dubstep sounds to the table, Qwirk excellently composes crispy drum patterns, dark basses and soaring square wave melodies on his debut vinyl release.

A/ Chroma Violet

This bright and shimmering composition is hands-down 140 anthem material. Syncopated chords layered with sputtering synth plucks all backed up with a heavy, bouncing kit pattern. Paired with a crisp neo-grime influenced lead melody, this track is the definition of an “A side” tune.

B/ Cut Glass

A darker and colder tune, but cut from the same stylistic, nostalgic cloth. “Cut Glass” sets out with a huge brooding bassline, rumbling underneath a complex set of crispy drums, ghost notes galore. The track lets this dark passage lead up to a break where a bright plucked synth melody builds anticipation for a wild, stripped-back bass and drum drop.

Kicking off this series, is a 10" lathe cut from producers @mskruff and @Scally ! Using their modern takes of the classic dubtechno sound, and shaping them to their unique styles of production.

SASDUB01: Skruff and Scally - Alright Dub / Clean Slate 10" (clips)

The next addition to the label comes in the form of a couple of Dub stompers from the debuting artist @Arboro. 
Hailing from Bournemouth, Arboro has crafted a couple examples of how to make Dubtechno of his own. 
"Pushback" with spluttering, sandy synths leading into a steppa fusion that will tear up any dance. 
This leading into a chilled, bouncing track, dedicated to the masters of sound who sculpted the current electronic music landscape, "Sound of the Elders" is a bright and melodic take on the dubtechno sound.

From Manchester to Bristol! Dub Fusionist @Maessounds delivers two deep, meditative cuts on the fresh release from Soil and Sound!
"Steadfast Dub" is a stomping, 140bpm blend of dubtechno and dubstep styles, with a bass low enough to knock down your house.
"1984" is a glisteningly beautiful space, one you very much fall into upon listening. A pillowy bassline, sharp percussion and dreamy atmosphere, bliss init!

SASDUB03: Maes - Steadfast Dub / 1984 10" (clips)

As for our first release of 2020, we have a delicious blend of dubtechno and dub from the 140 beast himself, @breezdubstep! 
For this run, we're shifting it up a gear, and bringing you a limited run of 30 copies, cut by hand by the dub-cutting master Henry Bainbridge at Dubstudio, onto 10" transparent plates!

A - Stepping Richness
Soft, yet tuff at the same time, "Stepping Richness" is a gloomy and deep cut, clocking in at 140bpm. With a classic and thought-provoking quote from the great Bob Marley, this track as for sure a late-night banger!

B - Puff Dub
A little more true to the dubtechno and 'steppa' sound, Breez brings us another stomper, with a bassline catchy enough to leave you humming for days. This one at 125bpm, this one is for those who's skank is a little slower! ;)

SASDUB04: Breez - Stepping Richness / Puff Dub 10" (clips)

Debuting his first ever release with us, Loutan ( @loutanclan )  arrives with highly detailed and emotive dub-infused sounds, inspired by the likes of Four Tet and Burial.
As per usual, limited to a maximum of 30 transparent, hand-numbered copies, cut by Henry Bainbridge at Dubstudio, Bristol.

A - Sad Dub
One of the tunes that helped start the label, back in late 2018, and has been in the works for a while! This tune is a deep, thumping dose of melancholy in a complex fusion of styles, yet appearing minimal in aesthetic. 

B - Arisen
It's difficult to say this one is a B-side, its just as deserving to be an A side. This house-soaked track comes armed with an unforgettable and constantly evolving chopped vocal hook interweaving with groovy synth stabs, and melodies. This track is truly hypnotic to the core.

SASDUB05: Loutan - Sad Dub / Arisen 10" (clips)

The unstoppable Leeds-based powerhouse, Mungk comes through with the next release on Soil and Sound. This time on a heavy dub tip, Mungk delivers two huge instrumentals showing off the insane weight of contemporary Dub and the unbeatable sound that is Mungk!

A - Basic Dub
A wavy halftime skanker, this tune has an immense, dreamy space with colossal snare crashes and a low end fat enough to rattle and smash your windows, you've been warned.

B - Untitled Steppa
This groovy steppa track echoes the sounds outta Brixton in the 90s, kicks are punchy as and the bass down low, while horns blare out the tops above, you can almost hear the pullups already.

SASDUB06: Mungk - Basic Dub / Untitled Steppa 10" (clips)

For the next installment on the Soil and Sound series, the heavyweight dub-crafter @b_say provides two crushingly heavy cuts in two different styles of dub music!

A - Labyrinth Dub
This dark and stomping 130 track fuses the minimal rhythmic characteristics of classic dubstep, but with the application of a slower, more menacing pace; B-Say is able to produce a feeling that invokes the feeling of being hit with a thousand bass-fuelled punches!

B - Unity Dub
Coming through with a thunderous sound here, B-Say switches up the style and crafts a deep dub-steppa style track with such a perfect set of grooves, through the use of organs and sounds of all things UK dub! This cut scratches that deep, meditative dub itch we all have within us! ;)

As per, this release will be a limited run of 30 copies, hand-cut by the dubplate master Henry Bainbridge at @Dubstudio, onto 10" transparent plates!

Our last, but by no means least, release of 2020 coming from mega powerhouse-producer @teffa dropping two huge 140 tracks to round off this bazaar year.

A - Pluto
Utilising deep chords and filled with constantly developing grooves, this track is filled with sounds which can only be described as echoes from the outer reaches of space, or Pluto if you like. 

B - A20
Certainly what some might call a left-field approach to speed garage, Teffa perfectly blends funky snares, filtered square waves and rattling percussive sound design into an incredibly tidy dancehall-ready track.

Our first release of 2021 showcases the dub skills of Rotterdam-based @dub-communication label boss, @Frenk-Dublin. Bringing luxurious dub and dubtechno flavours to the table, this release is a remarkable demonstration of the versatility of Frenk Dublin's production.

A - Into the Wetlands
Frenk Dublin provides a stomping 130BPM dubstep-infused track to open up his release. Fulfilling every dub lover's desire with heavy splashes of reverb and endless echoes, the thick layers of an organ's harmony and swirling melodies add an authentic nod in the direction of the ancestor-genre of reggae.

B - Aoukili
With an obvious dubtechno base for it's composition, 'Aoukili' manages to expertly fuse the aesthetics and sonic palette of dubtechno with the groove of genres such as techno and house, without sacrificing the darkness and sonic depth at the heart of dubtechno.
