danke für ein rauschendes fest auf der insel der freude am 10.08.2014 im peer23/ mannheim. im wahnsinn ist uns nicht direkt aufgefallen, wie knapp wir alle einer katastrophe entgangen sind. etwa nach einer stunde – mitten in unserem set – ist über das peer23 eine windhose gezogen und hat alles mitgenommen, was nicht angeschraubt war, rundherum sind blitze eingeschlagen. wir sind im nachhinein extrem froh, dass niemand zu schaden gekommen ist. das war knapp. LIEBE KINDER, DAS MACHEN WIR SO NIE NIE WIEDER UND WENN ES BLITZT UND DONNERT, DANN WIRD VOR DEM BREAK INS HAUS UMGEZOGEN!

lustigerweise ist aber das band die ganze zeit weitergelaufen und wir haben eine zweiteilige aufnahme mit einer 30 Minuten unterbrechung vorgefunden. wir haben es mit einem sample (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzj5Wu08kQU) geflickt und hoffen euch mit dieser erinnerung an einen ausnahmesonntag eine kleine freude machen zu können <3

ein riesen lob an die technik-crew, die mit schnellem handeln schlimmeres verhindert hat und dann auch noch innerhalb von 30 minuten die anlage in den innenbereich umgebaut hat. wahnsinn. alles.

At times the fact that DJs play other peoples´ music tends to fade into the background somewhat. Time to pay them hommage!

In the course of more than 15 years we have encountered a bunch of impressive artists.

It was and still is their music that has made our sets what they are. Some of them came to play at one or the other of our annual GRAND SPORTFEST events in Berlin.

Some musical connections have even evolved into long-standing friendships.
So the idea of kinking up with these special colleagues to create a compilation came easy and a while ago. And much later, finally here it is!

Eleven of our most cherished guest artists have contributed their own tracks to create this showcase.

We´re proud and grateful to be able to present the work of our friends and colleagues in this release!

Long lasting experience behind the decks and in the studio: Sokool’s performance gets straight to the heart, escorted by a sound that has reached an unmistakable signature.

Starting off as a duo already in 2011, Thomas and Mathias’ terrific live gigs quickly touch the hearts and minds of electronic music. Big releases like "Little Bird" on Katermukke or “Recognize” on OFF Recordings, and endless international bookings such as Georgia and Thailand only marked the beginning. The collaborations range from artists like Marcus Meinhardt, Mr. Schug, Kollektiv Ost, or Max Joni to name a few. Legendary and infamous established party series like Katerfrühstück at KaterBlau or Bordel Des Arts in Wilde Renate in Berlin are Sokool’s home base.

10 years later, Sokool is on his own and yet not alone: Thomas became an integral part of the Obsolet Records family, releasing their first joint album “Abenteuerspielplatz'' in 2021. Regardless if you have been there from the early hours or not, Sokool’s sound will get to you and never leave. A true journey far beyond belief: mesmerizing, honest, and straight to the core.
