‘Tantra’ is the new single from German polymath, Timo Maas. Taken from his latest artist album, ‘Lifer’, the track is the latest release during a vintage year for the acclaimed German DJ and producer.

As expected with any Rockets & Ponies release, the label has assembled a crack squad of remixers including Tom Demac (who’s about to drop a forthcoming collaboration with Will Samson on Aus), James Teej (the My Favourite Robot boss returns the favour for Timo’s reworking of ‘Liking Your Disorder’), Atelier Francesco (a new project and accompanying pseudonym from an already eclectic Italian producer) and Wolfgang Haffner (the ECHO music award-winning German drummer famous for his work with Nightmares On Wax and beyond).

Timo’s first new artist album for several years, Lifer, included guest spots from Mikill Pane, Placebo’s Brian Molko, U.N.K.L.E’s James Lavelle, Katie Cruel and more. The album arrived on the cusp of a summer season that saw him celebrate 10 years as a resident at DC10 in Ibiza, alongside shows at Used & Abused with Loco Dice, and the ANTS opening and closing events at Ushuaia.

Farther afield, Timo played standout parties for My Favorite Robot at Sonar (on the beach and a hotel rooftop), plus US gigs at New York’s Cielo club and at Wavefront – all in addition to his hectic globe-traversing schedule. Details on his forthcoming US and South American tour dates will be released soon.

Outside of ‘Lifer’, this year Timo produced, ‘Pop A Bubble’, his own original contribution to Cocoon’s 100th release compilation, and remixes for James Teej on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth label and Johnny Mikes on Lower East Records; reworkings that added to a remix pedigree that includes Madonna, Depeche Mode, Muse, Fatboy Slim and beyond.

Timo’s remix for Hackman is due in late January 2014 on LA's HaloCyan Records. The next remix EP from ‘Lifer’ comes complete with remixes from The Martinez Brothers, Maetrik (Maceo Plex), Addison Groove, Fur Coat, Livio & Roby, and Luca Lozano, and is due in December.

Ever at ease straddling the somewhat disparate worlds of underground electronic music culture and credible muso pop, Timo and his production partner, Santos, created Rockets & Ponies for both their own productions, and outings from the likes of Maetrik, Tobi Neumann, Riva Starr, Giorgio Roma and more, and they continue to welcome new talent to the imprint. The next single is from Wolfgang Haffner, backed by remixes from Ricardo Villalobos & Max Loderbauer, Nightmares on Wax, Timo Maas & Acid Mondays.

The Connaisseur family welcomes its youngest member: Ava Myra Flitsch. The daughter of Hilary and Alex Flitsch was born November 15th, 2011 and both the parents and good friends of the label celebrate this miracle with this release. All participating artists were asked to produce a very personal piece of music. The style was left up to the artists, resulting in a beautifully mixed batch of great tracks. 

The intro track „Hello!“ by dOP & Masomenos features a little vocal snippet as a salutation by Masomenos' Adrien's son and it is an atmospheric, soundscapish and beatless tool. 

"Rave Forever Together", which is the dictum inside of Hilary's and Alex' wedding rings, is the clubbiest track on this record. dOP created a brilliant pop-ish club moment with it, which is dominated by a lively bassline, discoish cowbells and catchy vocoder vox. 

In persian language, Ava means sound or melody, however in old-frisian, it means water. Knowing this, you can tell what was Patrick Chardronnet's inspiration, when you listen to his "Source Of Life". This track is a pure beauty, with wonderful melodies and sub-basses. Not really for the club, but an alluring listening trip. 

For the last track of this selection, "Song For Ava" by Of Norway, the Olso duo played live bass and guitar to create this wonderful piece of music hitting a bull's eye for this special release. With "I know you're there, makes my heart sing" they created the message of this whole release and the emotions everbody wants to transport with it. With its ambientish atmosphere, the “Song For Ava" marks the quiet highlight of "Welcome Ava". 

Additionally to the music, all persons participating in the release wrote a personal note to welcome Ava to this world. All notes will the printed on the backside of the record. 

The main idea behind this release, is to hand Ava several copies of the record in a few years, when she is old enough to understand. We will tell her, that this record was released to commemorate her birth and that it was shipped throughout the world. 
Perhaps people will have danced to it in Tokyo, while others will simply have listened to it in the sun in São Paulo. All of her personal copies will be handsigned by the artists. She can then give a record to people important to her on her journey of life.

Timo Maas follows the release of his third album 'Lifer' (on his and and Santos' imprint 'Rockets & Ponies') with 'Articulation' and its associated remix package. Maas' new EP, which features the Brighton songstress Katie Cruel is set to drop on 24th June.

Launched from Rockets & Ponies HQ in rural Germany, Articulation progresses surely and steadily with a brooding intensity as Maas adds weight and depth to Katie's haunting tones. Drenched in reverb, thinning and thickening with additive harmonies, the piece gathers momentum throughout as a persistent rhythm gently emerges. In keeping with the ethos of Rockets & Ponies, Articulation demonstrates a degree of free experimentation to an intriguing and eerie effect.

Remix duties are satisfied by producers Tim Green, youANDme and Pezzner. Tim's effort expands on Articulation's spectral glow with the use of warped, detuned chords and clever sequencing. Soft layers are spread over one another developing density towards an intuitive take on the bass line that whilst blended with Tim's acerbic, technical percussive patterns carries forth sufficient weight to satisfy the dance floor.

YouANDme's remix adds a further dimension to Articulation with the vocals introduced from the outset in combination with metallic percussion and big­room laser sweeps. A drone dominates the mix in a Carl Craig style tension build that gives way to a sink into a dark sub bass line. Intelligent sequencing subtly introduces rough percussive patterns that develop alongside a stabbing bass pattern in what is the most menacing of the three takes on the original.

Pezzner's effort adds a chugging, swung groove to the bass line making it feel the more jovial of the three remixes. With slow burning development, delayed and panned percussion builds up towards the introduction of the vocals where the intensity of the original is however, reflected. Pezzner effectively achieves a warm and allaying tone through utilising the plucked guitar notes and bass line variation that work together to successfully cast an amber light into the remix package making it an altogether diverse compilation.
