Un scanner musical a la nueva escena folktrónica chilena, en donde están presente los ritmos más contemplativos de Derrok, Rodrigo Gallardo y Carla Valenti, además de los experimentos sonoros que vienen de la mano de El Buga, Murúa y Señor Chancho, pilares de Sello Regional. 

En el lado de la pista de baile los beats son aporte de Estrellas del Trópico, Sistema Beat Andino y MadTrip. Y a cargo del rescate de ritmos originarios están Mr. Toé, Frente Tunupa y Zambo 1492. 

Finalmente el viaje es completado por el misticismo que aportan Cholita Sound y Waxuma. Mención aparte para el arte del disco que estuvo a cargo del ilustrador Tomás Ives

Kintu refers to a group or bouquet of coca leaves selected and ritually used to make an offering or a Pukuy (Andean prayer) in the Andes of Peru, Bolivia, Chile and northwestern Argentina. Kintus offerings can be addressed to nature as thanks, or serve as mediators of relationships between the natural and human worlds.
The Aymara in Chucuito (Puno) and the Q'eros in Paucartambo (Cusco) use three-leaf kintus in their rituals. In the three-leaf kintu there are associated symbolisms: the first leaf represents the male divinities (world above, Hanan Pacha), the second to the female (world below, Pachamama, Uku Pacha) and the third to humanity (present world, Kay Pacha)
The first step is to select the three, greenest and freshest leaves from the handful of coca leaves received. These are known as K’intu. They are carefully placed on top of each other by holding them between the index finger and thumb. The K’intu is brought in front of the mouth and gently blown, at the same time the coquero invokes the deities and spirits of the mountains and local sacred places. This act is called Pukuy, It is considered good manners to make a Pukuy ('blow a kintu') before introducing the coca leaves in the mouth. The leaves can then be used for chacchado or crushed and then blown in the wind with new summons.

‘Ermitaño’ germinated during the two months Michael Alfred Wagner AKA Biomigrant spent at the Fundación Tumac, a community school in Tumaco founded to recover and teach traditional music and dance in the Colombian south pacific. Set to the rhythms of Bunde and Currulao, the EP follows the iconic sound of the Chonta Marimba as it disembarks from its native coasts to navigate new currents, carried along by deep electronic pulses, gusts of wind instruments, and dreamscapes of water and concrete. 

‘La Utopía’ was inspired by a story of the Uruguayan author Eduardo Galeano, questioning what role ideals play in our imperfect and complex world. 

‘Ciudad de Agua’ (City of Water) takes flight through the marimba of Jhon ‘Pitufo’ Cortés (from the band Plu con Pla), guided by the words of the legendary musician Gualajo, who describes the origin of the instrument in the sounds of the ocean and jungle, and imagines how the music would change within an urban context. 

‘Ermitaño’ (Hermit) reimagines a traditional ‘bunde’ as a deep, trap-influenced encounter between the voices of Barbacoa-born singer Cristina Cortés and Mike (Biomigrant), contemplating a long, solitary path and rejuvenating moments of collective celebration, culminating in a dubby flute line.

Ghetto Kumbé: welcome to the ritual of drums.

Raised on Colombia’s Caribbean coast and united by its capital, Bogota, Ghetto Kumbé combines the rich musical heritage of their home, to invoke the spirit of digital rumba in audiences all over the world. The secret behind their irresistible electronic ritual lies in their powerful percussion base; Caribbean house beats and traditional Afro-Colombian rhythms inherited from West Africa. The album’s co-producer, The Busy Twist, adds all the legacy of UK’s Bass scene to the Afro-futuristic sounds of the 3 Colombians.

Inspired by the different revolutionary movements emerging all over the world, Ghetto Kumbé will release their first full-length album in July 2020 on pioneering Latin American electronic label ZZK. Their self-titled debut is visceral, committed, and rebellious, denouncing through frantic rhythms the inequalities and abuses imposed by corrupt governments, while simultaneously enticing listeners to join in the fight. Dance mingles with awareness to create a global community, where family, friends, and strangers come together through our shared love of music and activate change amongst themselves.

Using musical motifs from Africa and Colombia’s Caribbean coast such as the gaita, call-and-response vocals, and an array of hand drums and rhythms, coupled with the elegant electronic production of Tech/House, Ghetto Kumbé creates an Afro-futurist soundscape with lyrics to motivate, elevate, and inspire.  Their first single to come out, ‘Vamo a Dale Duro’, is a fluorescent criticism of the unjust divide between the poor and the rich, the rising prominence of dirty politicians, and the ethics of the capitalist system while encouraging people to stand up and fight for a dignified existence. The album’s tone fluctuates fluidly between tracks that include ancestral chants, voices both deep and resounding, and anthems to uplift and inspire, as well as features by up-and-coming Réunion island artist Melanie and the Palenque-based folk/hip-hop band Kombilesa Mi.

In the Americas, Ghetto Kumbé has become one of the most important alternative groups to come out of Colombia. They’ve played Barranquilla’s world famous Carnival, Bogotá’s recent Boiler Room, and have even opened for Radiohead. The ancient yet modern sound of the three powerful musicians has made them a legitimate representative of the new Afro-House scene burgeoning all over the world.

The release features two versions of a guitar driven hypnotic acoustic track with deep powerful percussion recorded by Canalón de Timbiqui´s rhythm section. Longing poetic lyrics about the strange feeling of tense calm and distress experienced during these pandemic days and the soothing need for contact are sung by amazing Vitor Santana.

Cerrero has become one of Colombia’s electronic music scene sought after names and his dub approach to roots infused electronic music keeps delivering enchanting tracks pushing boundaries to create a fresh sound.

Cerrero presenta su nuevo sencillo en colaboración con el duo brasileño Coladera. La entrega nos presenta dos versiones de Sutileza, canción que fue compuesta y grabada en el estudio de Llorona Records durante la gira de Coladera el año pasado por Colombia. La primera versión conserva la intención original de la guitarra acompañada del ensamble de percusión de Canalón de Timbiquí grabado en Cali. La hermosa voz de Vitor Santana, los versos que evocan la tensa relación de calma y angustia que vivimos en estos días de aislamiento, así como el anhelo de contacto y cercanía, crean una mezcla que embruja y que sumados a la producción hipnótica de Cerrero agarran por dentro. El lado B, la versión de alborada de Sutileza, lleva el sonido de la canción al territorio de la electrónica etérea y minimalista, que respetando el origen orgánico y acústico del arreglo, acentúa el peso de los bajos y la repetición de algunos de sus versos más poderosos para llevarnos a la sombra que acompaña la primera entrega de lo que será la nueva producción discográfica del proyecto liderado por Diego Gómez.

Cerrero apresenta seu novo single em colaboração com a dupla brasileira Coladera. A entrega nos apresenta duas versões do Sutileza, uma música que foi composta e gravada no estúdio da Llorona Records durante a turnê Coladera no ano passado na Colômbia. A primeira versão preserva a intenção original do violão, acompanhada pelo conjunto de percussão de Canalón de Timbiquí gravado em Cali. A bela voz de Vitor Santana, o violão de João Pires, os versos que evocam a relação tensa de calma e angústia que vivemos nestes dias de isolamento, bem como o desejo de contato e proximidade, criam uma mistura que enfeitiça e que se soma a A produção hipnótica de Cerrero se agarra lá dentro. O lado B, a versão inicial do Subtlety, leva o som da música ao território da eletrônica etérea e minimalista, que respeitando a origem orgânica e acústica do arranjo, acentua o peso do baixo e a repetição de alguns de seus versos. Mais poderoso para nos levar para a sombra que acompanha a primeira parcela do que será a nova produção recorde do projeto liderado por Diego Gómez.
