This song came out of me as a natural instinct to soothe my nervous system after engaging with secondhand and intergenerational trauma from the Holocaust. May it bring softness to our pain and courage to the resilient parts of us who still reach for the good in life.

Written as a musical companion to (and in conversation with) the Dan Jones chapter "Mixed Multitude" in the collection WE CRY JUSTICE (Poor People's Campaign) in 2021 as part of the We Cry Justice Arts Project. The poem "Red Sea" by Aurora Levins Morales also served as inspiration for some of the lyrics. 

May this song continue to be a prayer for collective liberation for the sake of an end to all systemic, state, and militarized violences from prisons to Palestine.

i caught this song in the deep dark winter of February in Boston, grieving the way that power and abuse and capitalism demand cognitive dissonance, and the way that this cognitive dissonance plays out in my communities and my relationships. 

as i wondered what the antidote to such dissonance might be, this song came through. it is a spell for slowing down. for untangling ourselves. for opening our hearts to the aching pulse at the center of the earth.
