Josef Gaard (@josefgaard) is a project focused on music as a conduit. Originally based in the Seattle area and now settled in Berlin, he has been sharing his salient sound through productions and performances for years. With a 12" coming up on @kalawila ’s Mountain Explosion Device, he is continuing to push his music forward with a distinct touch. This mix showcases the different edges of his musical sphere, from nordic house to electro to techno and back again.

This Thursday 2 August he plays at OHM alongside the special live debut of Acronym (@4cr0nym) & @kali-malone.

Patterns of Perception 36 - Josef Gaard

Basel-based Agonis (@agonis-amenthia) runs @amenthia-recordings alongside label partner @garcon. Fusing depth, rhythm, and echoes of Detroit, his DJ and live sets alike are captivating, at once both subtle and forward.

Following his transcendent live performance at Patterns of Perception earlier in the year, Agonis has taken his vision to audiences around the world, performing at key festivals and parties in Australia, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and Switzerland where he is a resident of the famed Elysia (@elysiabsl) club. 
On the production front, he has been similarly prolific, helping to inaugurate @smokemachinetaipei ’s record label with the contribution of two tracks to its debut EP, plus overseeing the release of Amenthia's sixth EP - a debut from fellow Basler, and one-third of @varuna4053, Tafeit.

In Patterns of Perception 37, Agonis delivers a discerning selection designed to be equally enjoyed at home or on the dancefloor, constructed around the concept of bending time.

Second Path

This new series explores the links between our consciousness and our current scientific knowledge of what reality is (from the point of view: astrophysics, quantum mechanics, neuroscience, psychology, philosophy). Far from providing answers (it's just music!) ... I'm only sharing with you questions that I ask myself and that fascinate me.

This first episode deals with our consciousness of time. Is it our consciousness that makes time? What does it mean: time passes? does time have a structure? and in the end: What is time?
The vocal extracts (in French, sorry, but I tried to translate them in English in the comments) come from an excellent conference of the brilliant Etienne KLEIN, physicist and philosopher of sciences.

And for those who are interested in the subject and wish to deepen, I can only advise the following reading: "The Order of Time - Carlo Rovelli"

This week we welcome the talented Rui G. (@rui-g_floating-layers) to our techno podcast. <3

Curious, ambitious, committed to crossing musical boundaries and improving his technical skills, Rui G. invites us, through this deep set full of recent tracks, to a sensorial journey beyond preconceived ideas of genre. 

Rui G.'s musical path starts off like that of many DJs of our days, looking for their place in the sun. What distinguishes him is his insatiable research and desire to explore different horizons of electronics, to overcome himself as a storyteller and a creator of sound narratives. Year after year, party after party, his interest in electronics grew stronger and deeper, and in 2009 he debuts definitively as a DJ. Two years later, Rui G joined Elements (@elementsrec), a renowned electronic music collective based in Coimbra, Portugal. This association was an important step in his musical journey, with invitations to play at events and clubs of the techno scene between Coimbra and Porto, along with well known DJs whom he admires such as David Rodrigues, Nelson Flip, A .Paul, The Advent, Deepbass, Brando Lupi, Nobody Home, NTOGN, BLNDR, Antigone, Dorian Gray, Freddy K, Henning Baer and Julia Govor.
