Capturing the essence of the Crosstown Rebels and Robot Heart experience at Burning Man, DAVI’s selection of deep melodic odysseys for Rebellion are awash with the other-worldly magic of the Playa. A-side ‘Rebel Heart’ fuses ancient Eastern melodies with moody bass and mystical arrangements.  Second track ‘Anunnaki’ (a name denoting a group of deities in ancient Mesopotamian cultures) continues the theme of spellbinding, earthy tones and on the remix, Mark Jenkyns toughens up ‘Rebel Heart’ with a squelchy acid-flecked bassline, solid kicks and overlays of his own wonky synth structures. Last but not least the masterstroke ‘Two Suns In The Sky’ hypnotises the soul with rolling drum beats and epic chords as waves of spooky energy and polyrhythms punctuate the cosmic sunrise soundscape.

"The Rebel Heart party helped me find myself at Burning Man last year. The music was new and inspirational and I felt it deep inside of me. I was back in my studio within 2 days of returning from the desert, fired up by this new direction and I think I managed to create my own spin on this most magical experience and of course I sent it to Crosstown straight away".

At the root of a lot of my music is an appreciation for dub culture.

Over the past few years I've been experimenting with different dub formats and workflows. Of all the files and projects I could rescue I've compiled a selection of dub related tracks for your enjoyment.

Some of these tracks were made in very lo-fi settings and have a lot of analog and digital crunch to them. Don't expect state of the art contemporary pro-studio sound design, but allow your brain and body to sink into the vibe. I may not have done it perfectly, but I dub it my way ;-)

These tracks were made for chilling or dancing with caring and loving people. Don't confuse rastafari culture with smoking weed, care for your community and elders, care for nature, care for children and enjoy the dance.

  LAB014 is the third installment of Aquatic Lab's releases from South London originator, Cluekid. Leading on from his recent 'After The Storm' EP (LAB012), the 'Dolphin EP' is another display of Clue's well-heeled versatility and continual sonic growth, demonstrating why his extensive back catalogue of work continues to carry such high regard.
 
As Cluekid's most sought after dubplate in recent times, the A-side, ‘Dolphin', is simply a masterclass in stellar meditation. Combining the bold sense of musicality of his previous releases with an expertly crafted arrangement, 'Dolphin' is certainly the epitome of Cluekid's turquoise excursions. This melodic cut is as densely composed as it is meticulously stunning, as a serene melody ebbs and flows effortlessly with an undeniably unique deep-blue aura.

The AA-side, ‘Fossil’, leans towards the mistier quadrants of Cluekid’s sonic signature, readily articulating all of the melancholic nuances of his work’s classic after hours vibes. Scattering percussion, atmospheric dispersion and deep bass all feature in this mammoth roller.

The digital exclusive comes in the form of ‘Nihonto’, a heavily swung yet visceral exploration of jungle-inspired dubstep.

Mastered at Dubplates & Mastering and cut on 180-gram vinyl, LAB014 is currently receiving DJ support from Mala, Quest, V.I.V.E.K, Joe Nice and Chef.
