Welcome to Sol Alchemy Temple's Spring calendar! Something that compels us at Sol Alchemy, as a modern-day-temple, is to bring forth teachings from ancient wisdom traditions into everyday life, as an avenue for remembering the sacred ... even and especially in the mundane. For us, that means remembering and using ancient ways of keeping time that are in tune with nature's rhythms and tides.

What if we invoked and interacted with each season as a guide? What if we turned to the Moon as an oracle and muse? What if, although few us plant and make a living off of physical crops, we used the cycles of the Land and Sky as allies in planting, growing and harvesting the kinds of creative projects that enliven our Souls and contribute meaningfully to our families and communities.

Nature- and seasonal-based living is not just a cool, hip trend; it's a necessary step in our healing and evolution, and it's being called for by humans everywhere, and all Beings who share Mother Earth as our home.

We were blessed to have Prema Love lead Wednesday Night Kirtan at Sol Alchemy Temple on Aug. 2, 2017. Here is a song Prema wrote for Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (the hugging Saint, Amma!), and Sri Ma Anandamayi.  We sing praise to the Blissful Mother! May the nectar of Divine Love fill our hearts.  With Kat Rose on harmonium and response vocals.

We welcome Ma Durga in as an honored guest; we tend to and care for her, with sweetness, reverence and humility. We make offerings to make her comfortable and relaxed. This is our first task, the first opening, of Navaratri.

Navaratri Night 1 - Welcoming Durga

Yoga nidra is a deep relaxation practice that invites a consciousness and brain wave state that is somewhere between sleep and waking life. This particular practice leads into a guided journey specific to the winter season, and the seasonal theme for winter we use/work with at Sol Alchemy Temple and Shakti Rising: 'be present in your darkness.' As you will hear in the recording, it is often practiced from a laying down position (feel free to use blankets, pillows, yoga blocks or bolsters to support your body); and it is common, as you drift between waking and sleeping - or in and out of even a dream state - you might notice yourself only hearing some of what is said in the guided practice. If you miss some of what is said, no worries; again, this is common to move in and out of conscious awareness. Lastly, you'll notice my voice sounding somewhat monotone/robotic; this is on purpose, as the natural fluctuations of the voice can be distracting and can take people out of the relaxed yoga nidra state. 20 minutes in this state is equivalent to about 3 hours of sleep, and is an inherently healing state for the body, mind, emotional body, nervous system, Spirit and Soul because it is a state of coherence/alignment with Nature and Life.
