This time around the well respected label welcomes back long term friend & House Music veteran - Jon Lee (Tilted, Denied Music, Desert Hearts Records, Get Physical)

For over two decades Jon has influenced Seattle's house music scene, as one of the city's premier DJs, and through his involvement as founder & proprietor of area record shops + venues - including the legendary venue Vinylized, as well as Concepts (Seattle's first all-electronic music vinyl record shop which opened in 1996), and the legendary Downlow Records vinyl shop in the city's Capitol Hill district.

Jon also co-founded the recently relaunched Tilted Records, this was the first Deep House label locally of it's kind in the 1990s, which featured releases by artists such as; Brent Laurence, Wesley Holmes, DJ Ali, Miguel Migs, Marques Wyatt, Julius Papp, Jay J and many others.His career as a producer & remixer includes not only his solo releases, but also his work as half of the duo Lee Houser, and collabs with longtime friend Corey Baker of Pattern Drama garnering international acclaim. The energetic presence & experience Jon brings forth as a DJ have made him a West Coast favorite, with residencies in Seattle & Vancouver, B.C that have gone on to landing him gigs with legions of fans worldwide.

Someone that we are very proud to present is Emiliano Martini! Recently featured in MIXMAG as one of "8 Puerto Rican DJs You Need to Know" alongside the likes of; Little Louie Vega, DJ Sneak, The Martinez Brothers and Jonny Cruz... Emiliano is a name to watch out for! Quite an accomplishment for the young San Juan native, who has been one of the islands premier purveyors of deep house over the last decade.

Growing up with a jazz musician father, his passion for music began at an early age. As he grew into his own, his love of electronic music led him to develop a passion for creating music with his own flavorful & peculiar touch. It's the new textures and rhythmic variations he comes up with that make him stand out from the rest. His releases on top labels including; Lapsus, Nervous, i Records, Natural Rhythm, Louder Music, Tulipa, Viva, WaveTech, Spring Tube, as well as his own imprint Proper Slap Recordings have all brought his sound to an international audience where he has steadily been garnering support by globe-trotting DJs like; Marco Carola, Sascha Robotti, Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Drumcell & many others.

This is the splendid deep follow up EP by our favorite Liverpool artist Petals In Sound. After her great label debut last summer where she already showed us her wonderful atmospheric electronic sound, she now continues on a journey through that same spaced- out house territory. “Dial Tone” and “Lush” are both laid back groovers that sooth every dancefloor and are perfect late, or better, early hours tunes to steer dancers gently towards sunrise and out of smoke filled clubs, homewards with warm musical memories of a danced and spaced out night.
“The Sea and Everything in It” is a personal fave here as it combines great percussive rhythms with her unique style, arpeggios and dark synths electronica, deep like a warm spring day. The outdoor raves will be a perfect setting for this one! Last we asked our other new label member Pete Bandit from Berlin to remix “Lush”. With his own debut “Wild Feelings” he already set the tone showcasing his expert percussive and driving house sound. Here again he turned the original into a loopy “New York House” style jam with cool funky drums that fit in perfectly with the other tracks and make this whole EP a tight and delightful package. London-based event-series Gradient launches its label and kicks off the new era with a four-tracker from Brent, which goes by the name of Digital Karma. The Liverpudlian therefore delivers four club-ready tracks weaving himself skillfully through various electronic music sub-genres and styles. 

The EP opens with the title track, a homage to 80s synth-sounds which are combined with an Edith Piaf cameo generating a flamboyant French vibe and guaranteeing the EP an exquisite start. 

Up next is the most housey take on the EP, namely Don’t Call The Dr. The lush 4/4 bassline in addition to the robotic vocals as well as the inclusion of rolling triplets in the track’s lows and the overall rather minimalistic approach turn the track to a magic bullet for the floors.

The B-side starts with Liquid Gold, probably the slower and more melodic version of the A2. Liquid Gold comes in with super sweet sung vocals, a lower BPM as the previous tracks and spaced out elements in reference to the EPs title Digital Karma, as latter always strikes back and here it hits audience hard.

Ultimately there’s (S.O.M.) or the most techy track of the EP. With a stamping yet groovey bassline, its vocoder-led ode to Liverpool and a memorable chord-sequence (S.O.M.) offers another musical facet of Brent, who manages to take his listeners all the way through different (sub)genres yet remains true to his style.

Accomplished UK mainstay J1Mi launches the long awaited Beyonders label with a fantastic first EP that captures the eclectic nature of his sound.

J1mi aka James Hadfield has been making all manner of sounds for years - both solo and as one half of Lizards - from house to disco, Balearic to techno, and always on revered labels like MeMeMe, Not An Animal, Leng, Futureboogie and Phonica. He is part of the Beyonders collective that was started by Jason and Mark Goodings of 90’s pioneering breaks and drum and bass duo Hidden Agenda. The collective is now back after a hiatus following Mark's tragic passing in 2016 and is as fruitful as ever with members including James as well as Mal Sharp and Nick Grimes and now a new label.

James continues to host Beyonders Present events in his hometown of Newcastle and has played at the likes of Glastonbury, Stowaway and Pikes this year, as well as across Europe in the past. Luke Una and Man Power are big supporters of his work and this is the first EP from the collective and label, with the following four all mastered and ready to go over the next year.

The brilliant 'Sixes Now' has a menacing synth screwing about the mix before percussive grooves and elastic bass arrive to lock you into a dark disco groove full of menace and suspense. The thumping 'Modern Maze' is another hugely inventive sound with rickety rhythms, erotic vocal coos and wiry synths. A bewitching breakdown brings acoustic guitars and places the vocal front and centre before the punchy house kicks come back once more.
'Desire' featuring Crazy P vocalist Danielle Moore is an indie disco cut with jazzy chords and playful funk riffs that lift the spirits and cruise on smooth grooves. Closer 'Japanese Kipling' is a prickly brew with off-grid hots and vocal sounds, distant hits of melody and dubby rhythms that are wonderfully intoxicating.

This standout first EP very much sets the scene for what is sure to be a crucial UK label.

PREMIERE : J1Mi (Beyonders) - Modern Maze

Exclusive: Star_Dub - Voodub_5

Making a welcome return to the DUBWAX/ RAWAX label is Matt Star, aka Star_Dub, delving further into his bass-heavy sonic explorations after 2021's initial Voodub EP.

As with the first EP, this second offering simply has numbered track titles, following tracks 1-4 on the first 12". So let's start at Voodub_5! As you'd expect, there is a sumptuous amount of delay-laden warmth on the track, but there's much more too. The beats are crisp, the synths are fizzing with energy, the percussion has a lovely clubby swing especially in the latter stages of the track. The FX sounds which run through the track give an underwater vibe to some of the sounds, which creates a supremely tripped-out added flow. A superb opening track to set the scene. 

Voodub_6 is a much deeper affair altogether, the emphasis very heavily shifted to the classic dub flavours. The kicks and bass are amazingly low, there is almost no to-end percussion to speak of and what there is sits very carefully low-down in the mix. The stabs and FX all have a beautifully layered presence, complimenting the other sounds by keeping high in the mix, almost drifting above the kicks and bass. This is truly excellent in every way and a brilliant example of how to produce dub grooves. 

Opening the B-side is Voodub_7, which is ultimately a dum-led groove, the delays working on the percussive sounds, a low stabby bass hitting every few beats and some gorgeous pads floating in and out of the track. The beats have a rattling sound which is excellent, as this carries the track along, despite it only seemingly being made up of several component parts. Another spot-on heads-down vibe for the discerning dancefloor. 

For Voodub_8 the vibe leans into slightly eerie territory, as the light synth sounds and keys seem to move into an off-centre sound, with the kicks and toms subtly rolling underneath. The keys have something of an old children's 'music box' resonance, perhaps explaining the eerie vibe, which is no bad thing at all. Very definitely the deepest track on the EP, it's yet another showcase of club-ready but immensely layered house music, with its cap doffed to the production styles of Jamaican dub legends. This is an absolutely brilliant EP, as it has warm-up, mid-set and main-set grooves, so any DJ worth their salt should get this in their collection.

Red Pig Flower delivers her ‘We Need Space’ EP via Switzerland’s Adam’s Bite thisOctober, comprising four original compisition’s from the Korean-Japanese artist.
The past decade has seen Red Pig Flower’s unfaltering drive and ambition as a producer and DJ take her across the globe to play at hotspots all over, from Berlin’s Panorama Bar
and Hoppetosse to Tokyo’s WOMB, Concrete Bar Seoul, Pikes Ibiza and beyond. On top of this Red Pig Flower has a growing back catalogue of releases and co-runs the Tokyo based Sound Of Vast imprint alongside Knock. Here though, we see Red offering up her
new EP via Swiss imprint Adam’s Bite, home to music from the likes of Nu Zau, Barac,
Cristi Cons, Traumer and Ion Ludwig, a perfect home for her psychedelia infused stripped back house sound.
Up first is the original version of title-track ‘We Need Space’, a merging of winding bass grooves, skippy percussion, modulating, bubbling synths ebbing and flowing amongst one another while a hypnotic, spoken word vocal winds within the groove throughout. An instrumental version follows next, as the name would suggest, pulling back the vocal elements for a more robust, drum driven feel.
‘Separation’ then opens the flip-side with a more frenzied feel via and amalgamation of vacillating synth flutters, dubbed out percussion and bumpy low-slung drums which all dynamically evolve and retract throughout. ‘The Feeling’ then completes the EP, diving back into deeper realms with murky atmospherics, vocal chants and gritty stabs at its core, underpinned by a bouncy stab led bass groove and crisp, crunchy drums.
