The ‘Horizon’ EP artwork is an aerial photograph of a glacial river in Iceland taken by Jan Erik Waider. A fine art photographer based in Hamburg, Germany, Jan is known for capturing abstract landscapes of the northern latitudes. Making their collaborative debut on Purified Records, Serra 9 and Somyu unveil the immersive ‘Ocean’ EP. The title track opens with swirling melodies and deep, hypnotic grooves - blending Serra 9’s textured production with Somyu’s delicate, piano-driven touch to create a sound both fluid and expansive. On the flip, ‘Final Signal’ delivers a deeper, more introspective cut, layering atmospheric pads and intricate rhythms with subtle emotional weight. Together, these tracks form a captivating journey through melodic soundscapes and nuanced storytelling. A seamless fusion of both artists’ distinct styles, the ‘Ocean’ EP marks a standout moment for the pair - introducing a refined collaboration that leaves a lasting impression.

Taken by Brooke Pyke, the ‘Ocean’ EP artwork features a pair of young humpback whales cruising the Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia. Brooke is an award-winning marine life photographer from Australia, based on Ningaloo Reef in WA. With a background in diving, she now focuses on ocean, travel, and adventure photography, capturing the beauty of the underwater world since 2014.

Each year, humpback whales migrate thousands of kilometres to the warm, sheltered waters of Western Australia’s Ningaloo Reef to breed, give birth, and raise their young. The Australian Institute of Marine Science (@australianmarinescience) supports research across these vital ecosystems, using science and technology to better understand and protect Australia’s marine biodiversity
