Take a look into the lux world of prolific Italian producer Erly Tepshi with the saturated and ethereal “Hard To Love” EP. This one-of-a-kind gem combines the work of fellow talented artists such as Soul Button, Voices Of Valley and Trapped In Time to create something multidimensional that takes on a life of its own.

The first track in this dynamic collection is an original Steyoyoke rework of the deep and searching “Hard To Love”. This original version is an expression of passion and desire which soars gracefully over an echoing bassline and airy synths. The feeling of longing encapsulated in this almost surreal song is furthered by the addition of beautifully vocalized melodies.

Next, "Hard To Love" is remixed by the effortlessly epic Berlin-based producer Soul Button. His slightly abbreviated take on the song adds a heightened sense of mystery to an already intriguing track. The Soul Button edit is slightly more driving, using the vocals only sparingly and increasing the metallic and futuristic aspects of the song.

The Voices Of Valley remix delves even further into the intrepid world first tread by Erly Tepshi, calling forth a slightly darker perspective with quickening rhythms and the persistent ringing of metallic synths. The resulting feeling of mild turbulence is ultimately resolved by the last mysterious note.

Finally, Trapped In Time's unique take on "Hard To Love" converts the song into a cacophony of sounds and tones from a galaxy away. Trapped In Time uses an unexpected and stimulating soundscape which brings the listener further into a brave and beautiful landscape. It is astonishing how the use of the human voice in this scenario creates such an experiential and other-worldly atmosphere in the song.

In essence, the EP itself creates an immersive yet diverse experience for the listener. The combination of the varying viewpoints from each artist result in a strikingly cohesive and unique narrative overall.

Tone Depth already released a series of great and unique productions in 2018. When he sent this new track as a demo for fryhide originally, HOSH was completely blown away by it and couldn´t wait to play it out. On the plane, on the way to play a very important gig for him, he listened to the track while preparing and all of a sudden it made click and out of nowhere HOSH heard the „I Am Free” vocal from Johannes Brecht & Fetsum in his mind on top of the Tone Depth track. So he edited it right away, it became the highlight of his set and people started asking for it. A perfect match! After exchanging music with Solomun who fell in love with it as well he encouraged to release the „Free” version of the track on Diynamic with the vocal on top.

A chain of circumstances and everyone pulling together made this track possible and led to this very special version. Everyone involved is very emotionally attached to it, just as emotional as the track itself is.

Marino first got our attention with a tune called ‚Can’t feel‘ a few years back. We played that track for ages, followed him since then and his music always found a way into our sets. Since we started the Siamese label he was always on the wish list to make a record for us and after his successful debut on the latest ‚Siamese Anthology‘ EP we can finally reveal a full EP from Marino Canal.

The title track ‚A Fire In The Sun‘ has been a permanent tool for us since we got it. It is changing the mood especially in the first part of our sets, letting us go many directions after it. It‘s calm but powerful, emerges suddenly but then goes back to its steady groove.

‚Her Perfect Sky‘ is Adrian Schweizer‘s favourite and was featured in the recent and highly anticipated Cercle set we played right in the French Alps. It did fit perfectly to the surrounding and we really had the perfect sky that day.

Next up is ‚White Atlas‘ which reminds us a bit of the minimal era. There have been a few tracks back then which had enormous depth and warmth and this one goes a bit into this direction, with a catchy but darkish melody.

‚Distant Borders‘ marks the perfect finish for us, a nicely moody track that doesn’t try to steal the show but works in its own way.

Alex Dimou makes a welcome debut on Crosstown Rebels with What Keeps You There with two great remixes from Cevin Fisher and Avidus.

The EP begins with the enchanting nature of What Keeps You There. A prominent piano roll opens proceedings, with Vili’s moving vocals soon introduced over a chugging bassline. Cevin Fisher’s remix of the title track comes next. A more driving minimal house take on the lead record, subtle kicks converge on rustling percussion, before Vili’s emotive vocals once again form a poignantly heartfelt production. Avidus provide a dance floor-ready rework of the original, that features a mechanical sounding synth and an echoing, electric breakdown, before the EP is rounded off with Let It Be Known, a four-to-the-floor, pumping house cut made up of strong kicks and driving pads.

Alex Dimou is a producer, DJ and remixer whose career has seen him perform all around the global circuit. As a remixer, he has collaborated with the likes of Maya Jane Coles and M.A.N.D.Y, whilst his own releases have found a home on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax as well as renowned Berlin imprint Get Physical Music. Legendary American producer Cevin Fisher has been releasing standout records since 1995, achieving five entries in the UK singles chart between 1998 and 2001. German duo Avidus are regulars on Crosstown Rebels, and continue to run their own imprint Empore Music, which was launched in 2015.
