Introducing Florida Pythons, a band whose members share a common Floridian upbringing but are now separated by national borders. Jim Tramontana lives in Southwest Ohio, while Mikey Cortes calls Montreal, Canada, home. Despite the distance, their shared passion for music has brought them together once again to create something extraordinary.

Their debut EP, “Shed Your Skin,” takes its name from the title track, the fifth song on the album. This five-song collection is a testament to the countless hours they’ve spent on the road, slugging it out in sweaty, beer-soaked bars, listening room, and festivals. Both musicians have an extensive background in the music scene, having performed in various bands, including their previous collaboration in the early 2000s, Spitvalves, hailing from Orlando, Florida. They have shared stages across the globe with some of the biggest names in punk, rock, hardcore, ska, and metal. Now, using the power of the digital wasteland of the Internet, they have come together as Florida Pythons, ready to sink their fangs into you.

At the helm of Florida Pythons is Jim Tramontana, a gifted songwriter and audio engineer. Jim’s creative process begins by crafting songs in a demo format, brimming with raw energy and potential. These demos find their way to the capable hands of Mikey Cortes, a production expert with a wealth of experience in audio engineering. Mikey’s skill enables him to transform and reproduce these tracks in a superb production environment, infusing them with an unmistakable sound that is solely theirs.

We wrote “Misanthrope” at a time when it felt like society was breaking down all around us. The lyrics reflect the paranoia and defiance we were feeling. We wanted to give voice to that alienation through a powerful, punk-inspired sound.

True to our DIY ethos, Florida Pythons have put together a music video for “Misanthrope” using clips from the cult classic sci-fi film The Thing. The footage of the shape-shifting alien creature terrorizing an Antarctic research base perfectly complements the song’s sense of fear and distrust of humanity — a fittingly dystopian spectacle.

Slithering out of the shadows and into your nightmares, “Shadowman” is a heavy, brooding blues and grunge-infused metal masterpiece that will have you watching over your shoulder until sunrise.
