A project unveiled for the first time last summer, Solid Grooves' 'Raw Grooves' series welcomed the first-ever Various Artists project on sister label Solid Grooves Raw, and in the process introduced a slick selection of grooveheavy, stripped back yet powerful cuts from some of the label's core family members and closest friends.

Now back for its second installment, early-May sees label favourites Eddy M, Blackchild (ITA), and Ramin Rezaie joined by a wealth of leading names and rising talents as they welcome UK hotshot Latmun for his label debut, South Coast duo Prok | Fitch, who step out on sister label Raw for the first time following their huge single 'Indiance', recent Solid Grooves debutant Wheats, returning Manchester-based talent Kreature, and fast-rising London pairing, Antss and Ash-R.

Endor makes his debut appearance on Solid Grooves as he drops fresh single, ‘Beat’.

An emerging star following his monumental breakthrough in 2019, UK-based DJ and producer Endor continues to showcase just why he’s an artist to watch for so many in the scene as he delivers his own take on house music via a host of the industry’s leading labels. Having recently dropped his first music of the year, June welcomes his debut appearance on Solid Grooves as he steps up to deliver his latest cut, ‘Beat’.

A zig-zagging production combining punchy kicks, slick hats and teasing vocal repetitions alongside swirling, sweeping melodies, ‘Beat’ finds itself at home on the flourishing imprint as the surging talent offers up yet more dancefloor-ready ammunition for the summer months ahead.

The stable of artists that they have had at their disposal of the years is impressive and call artists such as Bodeler, Nacho Bolgnani, and Sakro. Highly regarded US artist, Wyatt Marshall drops a delectable debut release on Archie Hamilton’s renowned imprint Moscow Records titled ‘Chatterbox EP’ 

Wyatt Marshall has had a constant flow of excellent release on labels such as Dirtybird, Avotre, Desert Hearts, and Deeperfect, which have included collaborations with US based artists like Claude VonStroke, Lubelski, and Sly Turner, whilst he’s also taken on remixes for esteemed European artists such as Kevin Knapp, Alex Kennon and Davina Moss. His music is regularly supported by tastemakers and radio DJs around the globe including John Summit, Audiojack, LP Giobbi, Stefano Noferini, Eddy M, Kolombo Gary Jamze, DJ S.K.T and many others. 

The first and title track on the EP is “Chatterbox” which uses elegant arps that weave through the track and smooth chords that push the track along. This is topped off by a classy vocal sample, with the finishing touch of the metallic lead sound dropping in after the break which is guaranteed to make the dance floor move. 

On the flipside is ‘Distant Traveller’ which uses a more percussive groove as the basis of the track with the chords and pads worked into the track to give it a soft deep house base. Marshall then layers a well crafted acidic higher bass sound over the sub, before adding an organ lead line, and the track is beautifully polished off by an evolving arrangement making this track a cut of absolute deep house delight!

Blackchild (ITA) returns to Solid Grooves as the bubbling Italian serves up his latest single, ‘Hypin’.

As fresh and exciting names come, Blackchild (ITA) is right up there with the surging DJ, producer and label boss’ recent releases via the likes Hot Creations and his own LATEMORNING imprint only furthering his rapid ascent. 

Now an established member of the Solid Grooves family, touching down on the main imprint and sub-label Solid Grooves Raw seven times while joining the collective at the likes of ADE and Printworks, late May welcomes more signature dancefloor business on his return with the vibrant ‘Hypin’. 

Combining rolling drums and snaking low-ends with warping bass licks and trademark vocal samples, ‘Hypin’ sees the Italian deliver yet more heat on Solid Grooves as they continue to prove a perfect match.

Rules Don’t Apply drop the fourth chapter of their SPLITS series and it’s stacked with four groove-heavy weapons built for late nights and loud rooms. The concept stays true to its roots, a nod to the old Punk and Disco era when bands would pool cash to press 7-inch singles, one act per side. That same DIY spark lives on here as the label pairs some of their sharpest names on one release.

Today we lock in with FOOLiE’s track ‘Detune’, a trudging, heads-down jam that drags you straight onto the sticky warehouse floor. It’s tough, weird in all the right ways, and stomps forward with that off-kilter grit he does so well.

FOOLiE has always moved a little left of centre. He jumped through Trap, Hip Hop, and Dubstep before finding his home in House where he could lean into the strange. Sci-fi shades, bleepy textures, and mutant grooves became his thing, and that lane carried him onto Maximono’s This Ain’t Bristol back in late 2017. Since then he has fired out releases on Dirtybird, Basement Leak, Slothacid, Cuff, Strangelove, Trippy Ass Technologies, and RDA themselves. No shortcuts, just relentless graft backed up by a catalogue that gets heavier each year.

He’s become a proper Bay Area force, known for turning up in the rave as much as he turns up on the lineup, and pushing that oddball, club-ready sound at every stop from AudioSF to both coasts. ‘Detune’ fits right into that world. Slow, chunky, and dripping with tension, the track feels like it was made for a cramped room where the subs are rattling the metalwork.

SPLITS 4 also brings heat from Vic Crulich, Ben Dragon, and Landis LaPace, but today is FOOLiE’s moment.

Solid Grooves Records welcome back Barcelona-based producer Reelow with ‘Amatour Provocateur EP’ this March containing two charged house cuts.

Since debuting on Solid Grooves Records in 2016 the Hungarian-born producer has become a core artist on the label’s roster, and his productions have also gone on to appear on labels like Roush, Sanity and Snatch! Having received regular support from the likes of Loco Dice, Oxia, Anja Schneider and DJ Sneak, it’s unsurprising that Reelow’s distinct sound has led to bookings across the globe with appearances spanning London, Miami, Ibiza, Mexico, Moscow and New York.

Thumping bass sets the tone in ‘Amatour Provocateur’ whilst elastic notes, twisted elements and a muffled spoken word sample come together resulting in a compelling groove. Rolling percussion, soulful melodies and charged tones then make up ‘I’ve Been Low, I’ve Been High’ as infectious vocals and funky bass licks operate throughout.
