A project unveiled for the first time last summer, Solid Grooves' 'Raw Grooves' series welcomed the first-ever Various Artists project on sister label Solid Grooves Raw, and in the process introduced a slick selection of grooveheavy, stripped back yet powerful cuts from some of the label's core family members and closest friends.

Now back for its second installment, early-May sees label favourites Eddy M, Blackchild (ITA), and Ramin Rezaie joined by a wealth of leading names and rising talents as they welcome UK hotshot Latmun for his label debut, South Coast duo Prok | Fitch, who step out on sister label Raw for the first time following their huge single 'Indiance', recent Solid Grooves debutant Wheats, returning Manchester-based talent Kreature, and fast-rising London pairing, Antss and Ash-R.

Solid Grooves unveil their 2022 'Ibiza Sampler' as Michael Bibi and PAWSA invite seven of the label's residents and regulars for a huge summer offering.

2022 is shaping up to be a year to remember for Solid Grooves as they celebrate ten years in style with a host of stand-out shows, including OFF Sonar and Kappa Futur, alongside recent appearances at Space Miami, Fabric and Printworks.

However, the crown jewel in the programming undeniably comes via their biggest Ibiza season to date. With a move to renowned institution DC10 backed by lineups stacked full of talent, the collective only adds to things on the label front as they reveal their latest summer compilation. Opening the season in style, the nine-track 'Ibiza Sampler' welcomes the arrival of a stacked V/A with fresh heat from close friends and ever-impressing regulars.

In usual fashion, co-founders Michael Bibi and PAWSA contribute a pair of heavily-requested signature cuts, alongside peak-time and after-hours anthems from residents Dennis Cruz, Eddy M, Reelow, Ramin Rezaie and Bassel Darwish, plus label signees Classmatic and JUST2.

Rising star SOSA collaborates with established producer and DJ duo Prok | Fitch. Together, they weave their distinct sound of groove-based tech house, releasing a club-driven creation suitable for transient and peak-time moments on the dancefloor. 

They explain the functional aspect of the EP. “We’ve wanted to do something together for a while through a mutual love for one another’s music. The tracks came together effortlessly; we merged our production styles, bounced the projects back and forth and ended up doing three tracks covering the full scope of our DJ sets and us as producers,” they say. “It was important to have a lead track for the EP, something that a good cross-section of DJs could get behind and then some timeless DJ tools for groovier floors, late night/early morning moments and the big rooms! We’re buzzing with how they turned out and how they’ve been working on the dancefloor.” The title tune opens with a minimal vibe before a sultry vocal slips into the soundscape, evoking a sunrise-at-the-rave mood. Stripped-back percussion allows the lyrics to breathe, while a robust kickdrum conveys a clubby feel. Like the title suggests, Sweat is a pacier tune that ripples with a low-slung bassline and sizzling vocals with a touch of reverb—the perfect late-night groover. Final tune Footsteps In The Dark unfurls with a stabby synthline and snappy percussion, offering a peak-time production primed for a club soundsystem. 

Since breaking through with groundbreaking releases on Sola, Hottrax and Cuttin Headz, Liverpool-born SOSA has gained support from leading names in house music such as Jamie Jones, Michael Bibi, The Martinez Brothers, Chris Lake and East End Dubs to name a few. Having launched and established his imprint and event series COCO in Liverpool, SOSA now plays across the UK, counting gigs at Printworks, Motion, Mint and beyond into America and across Europe. Brighton-based producer and DJ outfit Prok | Fitch remain two of the most alluring producers on the house circuit. Solid Grooves welcomes back Romanian DJ/producer JUST2 as he returns with 'Multicore'.

Whether he's delivering the goods solo or alongside regular collaborator and close friend Luca M, it's now pretty clear that DJ/producer JUST2 and Solid Grooves' sister imprint Solid Grooves Raw may be a match made in heaven for those looking for stripped-back, no-nonsense cuts. Stepping out on the label for the first time this year, mid-March sees the Romanian talent return with fresh material for 2023 as he serves up the slinking, crisp grooves of new single, 'Multicore'.

In typical style and signature form, 'Multicore' is another production built for dark, intimate spaces with heavy lowend sound systems as punchy kicks and warping bassline patterns work beneath evolving vocals for a track set to make dancefloors move.

Electronic music trends are always changing and evolving and we have an obligation and responsibility to going forward. 'Energy' and 'Sex' are still groovy tech-house tracks but sounding like we expect in 2020.

'Energy' is about an arpeggiated bassline, infectious and groovy drum loops, catchy vocals and uplifting breakdowns. The classic formula with a twist, listen to it and you will see. 'Sex' is little more deep but still powerful, leaded by a male vocal talking about what people are still having. Two solid tracks for up-to-date dancefloors!
