Italian DJ/producer Gabriele Toma readies his deep and funky ‘Lit Bit EP’ for Jamie Jones’ Hottrax this June. 

With his releases on Sticker Music, Be On Records, and SK Recordings picking up support from big hitters Dennis Cruz, Michael Bibi, and Jamie Jones, the Puglian born Gabriele Toma prepares his debut for Jones’ Hottrax with the knockout house three-tracker ‘Lit Bit EP’. 

Across the EP, Toma works vocal snippets and detailed production flair with ease, exemplified on title cut ‘Lit Bit’ which brings squelching percussion around a funky bassline, peppered with breakdowns designed with giant sound systems and crowded rooms in mind. 

‘Back It’ sees robust drum work take centre stage, bringing sustained energy with its hard-hitting low end. ‘Go Stupid’ sees the Italian round things out with a cheeky banger, the mangled hip hop vocals dominating the track while a carefully considered arrangement and more, closing the release in refined style.

Solid Grooves unveil their 2022 'Ibiza Sampler' as Michael Bibi and PAWSA invite seven of the label's residents and regulars for a huge summer offering.

2022 is shaping up to be a year to remember for Solid Grooves as they celebrate ten years in style with a host of stand-out shows, including OFF Sonar and Kappa Futur, alongside recent appearances at Space Miami, Fabric and Printworks.

However, the crown jewel in the programming undeniably comes via their biggest Ibiza season to date. With a move to renowned institution DC10 backed by lineups stacked full of talent, the collective only adds to things on the label front as they reveal their latest summer compilation. Opening the season in style, the nine-track 'Ibiza Sampler' welcomes the arrival of a stacked V/A with fresh heat from close friends and ever-impressing regulars.

In usual fashion, co-founders Michael Bibi and PAWSA contribute a pair of heavily-requested signature cuts, alongside peak-time and after-hours anthems from residents Dennis Cruz, Eddy M, Reelow, Ramin Rezaie and Bassel Darwish, plus label signees Classmatic and JUST2.

Rising star SOSA collaborates with established producer and DJ duo Prok | Fitch. Together, they weave their distinct sound of groove-based tech house, releasing a club-driven creation suitable for transient and peak-time moments on the dancefloor. 

They explain the functional aspect of the EP. “We’ve wanted to do something together for a while through a mutual love for one another’s music. The tracks came together effortlessly; we merged our production styles, bounced the projects back and forth and ended up doing three tracks covering the full scope of our DJ sets and us as producers,” they say. “It was important to have a lead track for the EP, something that a good cross-section of DJs could get behind and then some timeless DJ tools for groovier floors, late night/early morning moments and the big rooms! We’re buzzing with how they turned out and how they’ve been working on the dancefloor.” The title tune opens with a minimal vibe before a sultry vocal slips into the soundscape, evoking a sunrise-at-the-rave mood. Stripped-back percussion allows the lyrics to breathe, while a robust kickdrum conveys a clubby feel. Like the title suggests, Sweat is a pacier tune that ripples with a low-slung bassline and sizzling vocals with a touch of reverb—the perfect late-night groover. Final tune Footsteps In The Dark unfurls with a stabby synthline and snappy percussion, offering a peak-time production primed for a club soundsystem. 

Since breaking through with groundbreaking releases on Sola, Hottrax and Cuttin Headz, Liverpool-born SOSA has gained support from leading names in house music such as Jamie Jones, Michael Bibi, The Martinez Brothers, Chris Lake and East End Dubs to name a few. Having launched and established his imprint and event series COCO in Liverpool, SOSA now plays across the UK, counting gigs at Printworks, Motion, Mint and beyond into America and across Europe. Brighton-based producer and DJ outfit Prok | Fitch remain two of the most alluring producers on the house circuit. Regularly cited as one of Beatport’s highest selling artists annually – with 2016’s Green Velvet collab ‘Sheeple’ remaining at No.1 for an impressive 16 weeks – their music strikes an appealing balance between melodic intricacy and dance floor heft. The pair have supplied dancefloors worldwide with their groove-heavy aesthetic, with releases on Solid Grooves, Knee Deep, Circus, Relief and more. Today, the duo constantly evolve their sound while touring the UK, the USA and beyond.

Kai Rodriguez makes his debut outing on Hot Creations, delivering his two-track ‘The Thrill’ EP. 

With his late-2021 Hottrax debut ‘Underground’, DJ/producer Kai Rodriguez gave the house scene a first glimpse  of what’s to come with the 25-year-old UK talent’s breakthrough release remaining in heavy rotation for head  honcho Jamie Jones across the Ibiza season and beyond. Having since featured on bubbling US imprint Revival  New York, he steps things up a level as he reveals his first material of 2023 and his Hot Creations debut with ‘The Thrill’.
 
“Empire of the sun have got to be up there as being one of my favourite electronic duos of all time. They  had a huge influence on the EP and it’s inception. ‘Walking on a Dream’ is one of their more popular and  classic tracks and resonates with me. 2022 was a year of successes within my musical career, and a sign  that I am on the right path towards the things I want to achieve. I wanted to amalgamate that with a piece  of music, and from this idea, ‘The Thrill’ came into fruition.  

‘Sum’ Bout’ was a track that I’d be sitting on for a while. It was one of my first tracks that had genuine  positive feedback from artists that I look up to, and felt that the sound really complimented ‘The Thrill’. I’m  glad that it’s found a good home. Lead track ‘The Thrill’ harnesses the iconic vocal known across the globe but switches things up, contrasting the  vibrant tones with murky low-ends and metallic percussion for a no-nonsense cut main for main rooms, while  ‘Sum’ Bout’ takes a drum-driven path as skippy hats and warped snippets ebb and flow amongst the mix for more  peak time material.

Two of house and techno’s most-established talents collaborate on their debut release together, as Hot Creations head Jamie Jones teams up with Mood Records boss Nicole Moudaber on Pepper Shake.

Short, sweet and with no filler involved, Pepper Shake gets us underway swiftly, and the name certainly does the track justice. Up-tempo hats whistle beside a driving bassline, before a female vocal reels in and out. The styles of both artists are present throughout, with Jamie’s signature groove providing the foundation and Nicole’s deeper techno style coming through in the synths. Bubble Ride completes the release. Dark, gritty and harder-edged than its predecessor, this is a stripped-back peak-time club cut, with a penetrating bassline and hard-hitting kick patterns. The occasional pulse of an atmospheric sample further enhances the body of the track, to form something that’s built solely for the dancefloor.

Originally released on Toolroom in 2015, Technasia and Green Velvet’s huge summer anthem ‘Suga’ quickly became one of the label’s stand-out releases of recent years, soaring to the top of the Beatport charts within days and featuring within a long list of sets from a host of the industry’s biggest names as the two combined to offer up one of the year’s Ibiza tracks of the season. Now five years on from its original debut, Toolroom revisit the back-catalogue favourite this October as they welcome leading talents Detlef and David Penn to deliver their own take on the production and offer up two huge remixes for 2020.

Harnessing the original production’s iconic vocals, Detlef steps up to take the reins as he delivers a driving interpretation guided by rolling metallic drums and swirling synths, before handing over to David Penn who introduces paired back, refined percussion arrangements alongside the track’s funk-fuelled guitar licks to deliver a resonant house cut and shape up proceedings in style.
