Pintandwefall reveal details of their new album, Seventh Baby, which arrives via Soliti on the 25th February 2022. 
Pintandwefall tells us of Seventh Baby "We started sending each other demos after the pandemic started and our previous album tour got cut short, and a lot of the songs coincidentally dealt with different aspects of everyday life with an absurd twist to them. We recorded the album within a 6-day period during the hottest days of early July, and it ended up becoming more guitar-driven than our previous albums, with some soft shoegaze moods in the mix. We were and are especially hyped about working with Liisa Tani, aka Sir Liselot, on this album, and her energy and unique touch can be heard throughout the songs. Also, it was about time to have an all female panel in the studio! We hope you will love listening to Seventh Baby as much as we loved making it <3"

Cute Pint tells us of  “Aihai” : “The song is about missing someone a lot, and wanting to ask them over because it’s been so long since you’ve seen them or anyone really, but you know you get all babbly and annoying when you’re excited or have been by yourself for too long so now you’re worried if they come over you’ll just ruin it somehow and they never want to spend time with you ever again.”

“The song images the hostility between two clashing views. The ghost has returned to claim what is theirs while there’s already a new person in their place with an equal claim. We can be thankful that we live in a time when Pintandwefall is a going concern. Last month the band returned with the well received single ‘Aihai’ - the first call to arms for forthcoming album Seventh Baby. Today (4th Feb.) they unveil the latest morsel from the long player, the wonderfully intimate melodicism of “Last Minutes” This song is very personal and it deals with some emotional laws. I prefer not to elaborate here. This is the first song I’ve been co-writing with my partner (Jake Lin)" - Pintandwefall’s Dumb Pint tells us of  “Last Minutes.”

Pintandwefall : Last Minutes

The poet Francis North and the Finnish post-rock band Ghosts on TV formed an interesting union last fall. North and visual artist Anna Blom released their first book titled “ENTROPY” in September 2021. They held a launch party at the sold out Music Theatre Kapsäkki in Helsinki, where Francis North recited the whole long poem live from start to finish. He was accompanied by Ghosts on TV, who played new material inspired by the book during the show.
This concert was recorded and the live album / audio book “ENTROPY (Live At The Music Theatre Kapsäkki)” was born. ENTROPY is a study of an ancient holiness, of a prophet, because the time of mythologies is not over yet. The album is released via Soliti Records.

“Estrogen” is released on the 19th July 2023

The endless creative zeal of Knife Girl knows no bounds. Knife Girl ( 23yr old songwriter/producer Lili Aslo) releases a new slice of dance pop fun with new single  “Estrogen”,  conveying deep and personal feelings. “ “Estrogen” is an expression of gender euphoria, and a celebration of my life and friends. When I wrote the lyrics “I love my tits, I love my dick”, I had to stop for a moment to think if it was too provocative to say. But I realised: Why should it be provocative to anyone that I love my body? The lyrics keep looping over and over, an affirmation to myself. This is what me loving myself sounds like.“ Aslo tells us.

In May 2024, Cats of Transnistria will release new music for the first time in five years, taking their expression to new paths.
The first single Big Sleep is a story about dreaming.

"The new songs really sound new, but at the same time still just like us. We have been focused on our other projects for a long time, and the break has done us good. Now making new music together has felt wonderful and inspiring", says Henna Emilia Hietamäki.

"Big Sleep started with a beat, like all our new songs. The beat and bass lines have brought a new kind of freedom, airiness and experimentation to the song-making process and playing. Influences can be found, for example, from the dreary side of the 1980’s," says Tuomas Alatalo.

Cats of Transnistria was founded by Tuomas Alatalo and Henna Emilia Hietamäki in Helsinki in 2014. Their sound combines dream pop, post-rock, dark wave, softness and noise. Cats of Transnistria has released three full-lengths and one EP, which have gathered loyal listeners and beautiful words from critics. On the albums Opium and Aligning the band had the pleasure of working together with violinist Sanna Komi. During their career, Cats of Transnistria has performed at numerous festivals both in Finland and abroad - including Flow Festival, Lost in Music, Ja Ja Ja London.

Cats of Transnistria : Big Sleep

"Maan alle" is the first single from Henna Emilia Hietamäki's album Luutarha, which will be released in November 2024. 

Luutarha is a collection of new interpretations of old folk songs and folk poetry. There are new translations and arrangements of American, English and Finnish songs from the 17th‒19th centuries, as well as new compositions for Kanteletar's poems. The unifying theme is death, facing it or longing for it. Many of the songs on the album are made especially to be played at funerals. 
Luutarha (“Bone Garden”) was an early suggestion as a Finnish name for the cemetery.

Four of the ten songs in Luuutarha have been recorded in Sakke Vänttinen's Rock Alley studio in Hamina with the band, and six songs have been played and produced by Hietamäki alone. Tytti Roto (bass), Hanna Perälä (drums), Juuli Jokinen (cello) and Sakke Vänttinen (vocals) have made their mark on the album. In addition to the guitar, Hietamäki has played the harmonium, Finnish zither, piano and various keyboards on the album.

The text of the song "Maan alle" is a modified interpretation of a Finnish-Carelian folk poem.
"I feel great pleasure in the directness of these old folk poems: how things are not twisted to be a bit challenging, but rather express directly that now I feel so bad that I just want to die. When you dare to face all feelings without repressing them, they also pass."

Astrid Swan announces 20th anniversary reissue of debut album Poverina

Poverina 20th Anniversary Edition will be out in September 2025 as a limited edition CD - with a reinterpretation of the US album artwork by Varpu Eronen. The remaster will feature one unreleased track from the Poverina sessions - “Special Ones” - a song Swan revisited years later on the Teosto-palkinto winning album From The Bed and Beyond. The reissued album features a deep new remaster by Tuomas Salmela.

"Waterphile gets its name from the actual word hydrophile, which means “a molecule or other molecular entity that is attracted to water molecules and tends to be dissolved by water.
“For me this is a highly visual song. I see all kinds of water-related creatures here coming from different directions, I see a shoreline and the air/sky having almost a mint shade, the dark, deep water and the waterbed and the eerie silence of it, and me in the midst of it all.” 

"Waterphile" is both the opening track as well as the title track of Longing Louisa's debut album.

Black Twig return with their third long player Blaze On A Plain, released via Soliti In April 2016.

To wet your appetite for such exciting news, the band share the first single from the album, 1998. Possibly the band's most melodic cut of music yet, 1998 share's an affinity with the best music made with guitars, drums and bass. Yes, as the song intones, 'it's somehow cathartic' . Oh yeah, and did we mention uplifting?

A video accompanies 1998, with Black Twig commenting "It's not about nostalgia, it's more like a visual memory. It is what it is. Shot on digital8 with our friends in Helsinki. We love you!"

The Holy created much interest whilst simultaneously earning the plaudits for their This Will Be The Day That I Die single/video this Spring. The band follow that with a new single Ramses The Evil Brother. Taken from their forthcoming debut EP More Escher and Random Notes  (which drops via Soliti early August), Ramses The Evil Brother add's a more linear Krautrock vibe to the band's unashamed rock palate, while the intensity of the whole venture brings things to a satisfactory conclusion.

Ramses The Evil Brother's video follows Kamila Kurkus as she navigates between lush green surroundings to a bare post-apocalyptic setting. The video, directed by Haliz Muhilden, perfectly chimes with the urgent tone of the song.

The Holy: Ramses The Evil Brother

A year ago Mumrunner were all aglow at the release of their debut EP, Full Blossom. The singles Bond and End, along with the EP itself quickly established Mumrunner as an exciting prospect to watch, especially within shoegaze/alternative circles. With much blog presence aligned with releases in Germany and Japan and their own European tour last fall, the stage has been set for some new material from the band. This Spring saw some new music with the well recieved single Shawshank and now comes the news of another new song and an EP announcement.

Mumrunner describe new single Sputnik this way "Sputnik has it's roots in the Finnish district of Kaleva. It's a place where half of our band members live. It's where we rehearse, play football, make love, money and hang out. The Sputnik probe started a new era in a mankind's history many years ago. So did moving to Kaleva for Mumrunner. And to be honest, there's also a bit  of a soviet feeling in the neighbourhood."

Sputnik's dreamy vibes can be found this Autumn on the new EP Gentle Slopes, released via Soliti on the 9th September. The EP will also get the full vinyl treatment via  Germany's Wolves & Vibrancy Records.

Mumrunner: Sputnik

Fresh from a Nordic Music Prize nomination for last year's debut album Ikuisuus, Stinako releases new music - collaborating with the lo-fi sensitive Antti Autio, to bring us the dulcet and moving duet 'Paino.' Stinako tells us of the new song "‘Paino’ paints an abstract moment with tremors of existential anxiety. A feeling that is both meaningless and transient, a feeling that is also eternal."

STINAKO : Paino (feat. Antti Autio)

The New Tigers present Quicksilver, the first song from their second album, due Autumn 2013. Recording of the new album began in October 2012 with the classic New Tigers line-up - but this Spring sees a change as drummer Kece leaves the band in search of spiritual tranquility in Switzerland. While sad to see Kece leave, The Tigers have found the almost perfect replacement with Ville Hopponen (Cats on Fire). We currently find TNT’s finishing the album and playing shows in London and Stockholm (with more dates to be announced).
