We’re extremely proud to present the first edition of our SOLITUDE MIX SERIES. Curated by one of the most promising new names in the UKG scene, we introduce Arfa; the 19-year-old DJ/producer whose talent and flair for this music far surpasses his age.

Ahead of his debut EP ‘Freefall’ that releases on 3rd May, Arfa has blessed us with this selection. Moving from garage to jungle, the mix features unreleased music from himself and a host of other up and coming artists. We suggest you take some time to lock into the sounds of Arfa for SOLITUDE.

MIX SERIES: 001 / ARFA

Our second edition in the SOLITUDE MIX Series comes from the lab of DONSURF. 

This one is packed full of dubplates that are yet to see the light of day, so lock in and listen to some unreleased goodness. In the mix, DONSURF moves from melodic jazzy piano chords, all the way to gully UKG wobbles and bootlegs of classic R&B rhythms. Clean, crisp and funky; this one is for the heads.

MIX SERIES: 002 / DONSURF

Representing SOLITUDE for our third entry of the guest mix series, we bring you the man like M|CK. Emerging from Dublin, @mick_offcut is a founder of Offcut Dublin, a DJ collective who curate underground selections and nights over in Ireland. They launched their first event back in March 2020, but of course got put on pause over lockdown. Since then, they’ve kept it moving with their bi-weekly show on Phever TV and have got some events in the pipeline ready for when things fully settle down in IE 🇮🇪 


To keep in tune with the sounds of SOLITUDE, Mick recorded a punchy UKG mix with one of the sickest intros we’ve heard in a minute 📞  


This one oozes funk. Full of big two-steppers, melodic vocals and a healthy amount of sub-bass. Large up the Irish connections, we see ye ☘️

MIX SERIES: 003 / M|CK

Insurrect is a selector who resides on the darker side of the tracks. He’s always represented the music he loves, initially carving his path as a resident at the Crystal Clear DJ society in Hull (they’ve been holding it down for 14 years now…) He’s currently based out of Manchester and has been shelling in full force since he moved down. We’re gassed to have him as the mastermind behind the fourth entry of our guest mix series.

He isn’t one to shy away from the grimy sounds and nasty basslines we all screwface to. Having opened for some of the sickest names in UKG; Conducta, Higgo, Smokey and Wookie to name a few, we assure you his SOLITUDE guest mix is more than serious. In his own words “sometimes you’ve gotta get dark and wobbly.”

Don’t miss out on his residency shows at @subtleradio and UKG sets for @altoradio either. You can often hear him move through breaks, dubstep, UKG and electro with no stress. Hit play and get ready to bop your head to this one.

MIX SERIES: 004 / INSURRECT

Freddie Baker AKA BAKEY has got to be one of the most influential young producers this side of the scene. His releases have been featured by UK giants @mixmag-1, he has almost 15,000 monthly Spotify listeners and he’s been getting support from some of the biggest underground names out there for a while now; @skeptical, @bigflowdan and @e5izco to choose a few.

@bakeymusic isn’t locked to one genre, with his guest mix for SOLITUDE truly expressing his talent with some crazy blends, HUGE dubplates and a bunch of features from fellow music heads. He effortlessly experiments through styles and pulls out selections that on paper don’t sound like they’d work, but when in the mix they sound nothing short of incredible. You gotta hear it to believe it.

He’s also the brother of @breakaleeds who is killing it right now. The two of them have just released "Pro Perc" and "Club Dynamics" two super crisp pieces of production that feature on Breaka’s upcoming EP "Breaka 003" – You don’t want to miss that one. Talk about talent running in the family.

P.S We don’t want to say too much… but you will probably see BAKEY on a SOLITUDE line-up towards the end of the year...

MIX SERIES: 005 / BAKEY

Joe Nugent aka Papa Nugs is a name you’ll have seen pop up a LOT over the past few months, and with good reason. Since he dropped the seriously sick Nug Dubs Vol 1 (available via Bandcamp) back in April, he’s been drawing attention for all the right reasons. We’re big fans of his ability to produce so many varied genres, his ear for those perfectly selected classic samples, and the fact that his upbeat personality oozes through into his music. 

@papanugs came through with a belter of a guest mix to bless SOLITUDE on our eighth entry to the series, featuring unreleased music from @bakeymusic, @xander.sounds and many forthcoming from @papanugs himself. A vibe you’ll struggle to find anywhere else (you know how we do).

Keep an eye out for his upcoming releases on @badumtish.world, @southlondonpressings, @outhousesounds, @peakybeats and @pursa_records - trust us they’re all heaters 🔥

MIX SERIES: 008 / PAPA NUGS

Gimme A Break Records is honoured to present “Red Handed”, the first collaborative EP from label regulars Papa Nugs and Phasmid. Featuring everything from gritty wobblers and chunky breaks to acid arps and outrageous amens, this collection of five tracks is bound to send any crowd into hysterics. Alongside two individual productions and the co-produced title track, this EP offers up two undeniably rude remixes of the gents’ tracks from GAB’s first vinyl release. 

Both Papa Nugs and Phasmid have been making serious waves in the UKG and Breaks scenes of Leeds and London. Nugs has crafted an extremely unique production style as epitomised through his Milk and Beans EP for Ba Dum Tish. Similarly, Phasmid has consistently delivered furious basslines and crisp breakbeat concoctions for a number of labels, including his very own Taipan Trax. Having collaborated previously as part of 128kbps, as well as playing b2b at PLURPROJECT, Papa Nugs & Phasmid display a devilishly playful musical chemistry across “Red Handed.”
