Barney Kato, an active presence in the world of dance music for over 23 years, merges the magic of collective harmony and music, regularly captivating Eora / Sydney with his dynamic DJ sets and popular events like Alien and Breakbeat Chaos. As a globetrotter, an aficionado of futurist dance music, and a collector of experiences, he sees the DJ booth as an epicenter of energy manipulation, mixing classic and cutting-edge elements to move dancefloors of all sizes, reshaping experiences beyond familiar anthems. A resident of Sydney's Club 77, Barney curates nights, trains budding talents, and has made significant contributions to Newcastle and Sydney's electronic music scene since 2000, which include running parties, working in record stores, managing a record label, and hosting Fbi Radio Thursday Sunset for 15 years. Barney's DJ career highlights include spinning records at Australia's most iconic parties and festivals like Big Day Out, Splendour In The Grass, and more recently a set for Boiler at legendary Sydney venue, Hordern Pavilion.

Released just in the nick of time.  This is another mix that's been on repeat in my car, on my headphones for a couple of weeks now.
I love the flow between the first two tracks, you realise it's a different song it just sounds like the first song moves into a new section.  We have a big helping of Mr V in this mix.  All tracks you've heard in my mixes before but with a twist.  Each is a remix from the likes of Louie Vega, Reelsoul & Dennis Quin and sound very different to the originals as they should.
Craziest track goes to KW Griff & Porkchop who get the Mike Dunn & Spen treatment on Bring In The Katz.  Whenever I hear I always play a little game of what comes next - Yes or OOH.  You'll see what I mean.
The beast of the mix is undoubtedly Mattei & Omich's Morgana's Daughter.  No idea the significance of the title but the track is superb.  So deep, so dirty, perfecto!
The remainder of the mix is made up of tracks I haven't played before in 2025, offcut's if you like, but don't let that deceive into thinking these are second rate by any means.

His influences range from psychedelic rock group Pink Floyd to the works of Leon Vynehall, Assembler Code, Augustus Pablo, Pepe Bradock, Boards of Canada, Alan Braxe, Frank Zappa, Vangelis, Ice Cube and Russ Morgan and His Orchestra. 

Sol Michael has had a few “bucket list” moments on his musical journey. Playing some of the biggest festivals & clubs in Australia & abroad including Splendour in The Grass, Groovin’ The Moo, Sydney City Limits, Karma Beach Bali, Ivy Sydney, Home The Venue, Greenwood Hotel & Café Del Mar Sydney.
