Randy Newman wrote it, and John Boutte recorded it, but that’s all we know. Newman wrote all of it but that opening riff used in the State Farm commercial; that was written by Barry Manilow. Who knew.

 Our rendition of "Georgia on My Mind" (Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell, 1930). Carmichael recorded it with Bix Biederbecke on cornet in 1930, but it was Ray Charles’ version in 1960 that everybody knows. On the B side of Ray’s 45 was “Carry Me Back to Old Virginny.”

Our interpretation of the classic "St. James Infirmary Blues". (Traditional). Also known as “Gambler’s Blues,” Louis Armstrong recorded the song in 1928. Apparently, “St. James Infirmary” is based on an old English folk song called “The Unfortunate Rake,” traced back at least to 1770. There is no “St. James Infirmary” in New Orleans or anywhere else in America. There was one in London, where you went for treatment for VD

Our rendition of "Whiskey Heaven". (Clifford T. Crofford, John R. Durrill, and Snuff Garrett). Fats Domino recorded “Whiskey Heaven,” an old country & western song, in 1980. It’s used in a Clint Eastwood movie, “Every Which Way You Can,” released that same year.
