This April will see Redpine & Solo offer up the ‘Smoke City’ EP via Studio Rockers, comprising
four original tracks from the UK based duo.

John Stuckey and Sam Moss aka Redpine & Solo are a Leeds, UK based duo relatively new to most on
the production scene but have been holding up residencies in their thriving hometowns clubbing scene for
quite some time. Playing alongside the likes of Addison Groove, Tessela, South London Ordnance and
Mosca whose styles have clearly filtered through to theirs. Here we see the pair join the Studio Rockers
roster, a label founded by legendary Dubstep pioneer and XL Recordings artist The Moody Boyz, slotting
them alongside the likes of Hackman, EVM128 and Eskmo in the catalogue.

Title cut ‘Smoke City’ opens up proceedings and sees Redpine & Solo offer up a brooding broken beat led
composition, laid out over five minutes with airy textural pads, weighty amen breaks, heavy doses of sub
bass and an amalgamation of vocal chops. ‘Stay True’ follows and retains a similar broken aesthetic but
drops the tempo, bringing shuffled rhythms to the forefront while bright Rhodes licks, stabbing bass hook
and vocal chops meander around the percussive foundation of the record.

Opening the flip side we have ‘I Am Someone’ which takes things in a more straight 4/4 direction
rhythmically, yet remains socially stunning and rugged at the same time with warbling drawn out bass
tones and emotive strings. Closing piece ‘The Love ft. Franceskah’ then rounds off the package on a down
tempo tip with low slung drums, smoky atmospherics, growling bass and smooth vocal styling’s from
Franceskah.

Redpine & Solo are London and Leeds based musicians John Stuckey and Sam Moss. Two artists from totally different musical backgrounds coming together with one clear goal - to create electronic music with depth and soul. This collaboration plays on the relationship between urban and organic environments combining lush, cinematic textures with a raw, breakbeat-centred rhythmical core.

With an extensive musical background Redpine draws from a deep and melodic pallet creating rich and evolving soundscapes that will haunt you. Solo has a love for all things jungle - chopping classic, old school breaks and combining them with soulful, musical elements in such a way as to produce something truly creative and personal.

Their last EP 'Smoke City' found favour with some pretty heavy hitters. reviews and premieres with the likes of DJ Mag, Mixmag & The Ransom Note, along with some serious radio support from Toddla T on Radio 1. They have also won fans from diverse ends of the music spectrum including Rudimental, Hot Chip & Ray Keith.

But, enough looking backwards, its now time for their follow up EP 'Hindsight' on Studio Rockers. The Depth & Soul that is the calling card of their sound is in full effect here. 
The title track featuring Franceskah sums up the EP's musical direction perfectly. Her ethereal vocal & beautiful floating melodies are under-pinned by heavy rolling drum breaks. 
Next up 'Species' has a distinctly broken-beat feel, whilst still maintaining the EP's energy and flow. 
This 4 tracker then takes a dynamic step up in both speed and vibe for its penultimate track 'This is It' which adopts a traditional Drum & Bass sound. 
Then lastly, 'Nebula One' cools the proceedings down a little with some cinematic pads, synths and drum fills.

All in all, this is a masterful EP with a cohesive yet diverse sound that will leave the listener wanting more from this exciting production duo.

Studio Rockers continue to maintain consistency in the follow up to EPs from Redpine & Solo, Marcel Lune, Albert and the Studio Rockers @ The Controls compilation album with the first remix collection plucked from the EVM128 landmark album "Nova" that was  originally released  in November 2015.

For this first batch, the London label have compiled a batch of bonafide producers to offer their respective takes on Strangers, Twisted and Beyond. Remixes come from AfroForce, Redpine & Solo and Turbojazz. First up are Afronaut and Mark Force of Bugz in the Attic under their guise "AfroForce" whose revision of Twisted feat Bahia (True Thoughts Records) also features Rhythm Section's Henry Wu on keys. AfroForce drive Wu’s playful synth lines and brushed drums through Bahia's rich, soulful vocals.

Leeds based John Stuckey and Sam Moss a.k.a Redpine & Solo are up next with their take on Strangers. Masters of the Amen - the duo have released a pair of innovative EPs on Studio Rockers spanning DnB to ambient to Electronica. Together they suffuse EVM128’s sultry croon with neatly sliced breaks and bold, cascading melodies that harness the energy of the original whilst firmly stamping down their own signature style.  

3rd up is Milan's Turbojazz who rolls out a distinctly wonky and Jazzy take on Beyond feat Omar. Glowing Rhodes chords are weaved with distant pads and a filtered Mr Scruff-esque bass line that works to wrap up another fine addition to Studio Rockers’ extensive catalogue.

02 - EVM128 - Strangers (Redpine Solo Remix) [CLIP]

Black Tuna Recordings proudly presents Hex, and the ‘No Forgiveness’ Remixes. This record explores the musical potential of Hex’s sound with remixes by Black Tuna’s own Aversive, and Tunes Auto, followed up by UK newcomers Redpine & Solo, and two VIP mixes by Hex.

The record includes a variety of interpretations of Drum n Bass, ranging from smooth rollers, half time, and into neurofunk, which creates an incredible dynamic offering up a little something for all the heads. We can’t pick a favorite, so you’ll have to decide for us!

We're very pleased to welcome Leeds producer Solo back into the Dojo spotlight for today's exclusive as he drops a lush new remix for Alberto's 'Walk With Us' EP on Jupiter Sounds. Putting aside the more jungle-tinged sound he's usually known for both as a solo artist and on his productions with Redpine, Solo dishes up a deep, halftime stepper with more than a hint of the autonomic sound; crazy synths, tons of reverb and a wicked groove on this one. Check it out and watch out for the release at all good digital stores from Nov 13th.

Solo - I Try (Audio Clip)

Redpine & Solo (aka: John Stuckey & Sam Moss) return after a brief hiatus, although they've been far from absent from the wider drum & bass scene. 

Solo is part of the 'License To Jungle' crew following a plethora of performances at the renowned venue The Old Red Bus Station in Leeds. Playing host to the likes of Fracture, Om Unit, Dom & Roland, J Majik, Mantra, Dillinja, Klute and Ant TC1, it was inevitable the club night would solidify his place within the underground drum & bass sphere. And whilst Solo may have been keeping the world of music entertained, Redpine was living in sonic solitude to work on his own Workshop and Design Studio. However, they now join forces once more for their collaborative effort Redpine & Solo, which sees them pulling together their immense skillsets for a brand-new EP on Studio Rockers. A place both artists have frequently called home. 

While their ethos may not have changed - to create electronic music with depth and soul - this EP sees them build on their trademark lush cinematic textures and raw breakbeat-centred rhythmical core. Lead track "Time 4 Change" starts with some serious bass stabs, getting ribs rattling before their trademark frantic drums kick their listener in the chest. The track mellows out in the mid-section with blissed out pads, before the very on point message of "Time 4 Change" drops back in along with serious bass and beats. It's a solid dancefloor damager. 

For those who remember the blissful tones and deep bass of "Nebula One" from the 2016 "Hindsight" single, "Nebula Two" is a continuation of those beautiful cinematic pads, synths and drum fills. 

Meanwhile "Echo Chamber" sees Redpine & Solo head out on a space odyssey. Sci-fi inspired synths and stripped back beats lead into some serious sub bass rumblings, all the while it builds breaks into almost tribal sounding beats.

After the well received release of "Time 4 Change" earlier this year, Redpine & Solo, or as their birth certificates would read; John Stuckey and Sam Moss, are ready to deliver the hauntingly beautiful new release Citizen.

Very much remaining true to their signature sonic stamp, the duo have crafted four fresh tracks which weave a sombre sense of reality though melancholic and cinematic soundscapes, which stunningly backdrops the grave sense of poignancy society is battling with during these unprecedented times.

Title track "Citizen" kicks things off with a sobering view centred around a vocal, which could have been ripped straight out of a Huxley novel:
"They make us believe things that we never believed, They make us want things we never knew with wanted".
All the while warping drops of distortion are layered over ghostly pads and lifted by light chords and quick, stepping breaks.

A smooth and sultry, snake charming vibe blankets "Re-Mind", with an element of black magic. There's a lot chance to dance in this hypotonic, stepper, the drums bring us a shuffle which is impossible for your feet to avoid, and its bouncing melody will undoubtedly get your body bopping.

"Zoom Out" is a dark and perpetual call to action. Its slow, ever forward-moving march is fraught with swaths of metallic echos and cataclysms of harsh crashing drums which cut through the tacks layers like a hot, automated knife through rationed, synthetic butter.

While the rest of the tracks bring a seductively sombre vibe, "Nowhere" finishes off proceeding with a valiant sense of uplift and hope. The soft collection of strings which float across the minor realms of the musical scale are reminiscent of Burial's 'Untrue' era and the beguiling power of mixing the dread of heat-breaking dystopian futures with unexplained hints of faith.
