Mantra Bootleg (Instrumental)

On March 1st 2018, I performed one of my production in front of an audience of few dozens people. This was part of a variety show where multiple music student groups of the school I was studying at also performed. It was both a show and a class project for sound technology students - which I was part of. The mandate was to organize a show from scratch as a group doing all the tasks related to it such as: acts planning, gear planning, show installation.

The notable aspect of this performance was its quadraphonic setting. In the weeks preceding it, I used the school's surround studios to mix certain elements of the original song in rear channels. During the show planning, I worked with some of my colleagues to implement that in the live performance.

We ended up setting a pair of monitors behind the public in addition to the main front-of-house stereo speakers. All four speakers were being fed content via Ableton Live that I was running on stage. Two of my colleagues respectively handled the mixing console of the show and a computer running a Pro Tools session on which we captured that performance.

We captured both the Ableton Live feed and some microphones that were scattered all around the stage (for the other acts playing). I took the Pro Tools session and worked on a stereo version the next couple of days. It became Phénix (Live 2018).
