Some times the music just magically comes out, and that is the case here with "Syria" by new Sol*Selectas artist Unders from Amsterdam. After several successful tunes above the 120 BPM mark on labels like Sincopat and Groove On, "Syria" was Unders' first attempt at slower grooves, and an accidental experiment that just "fell into place, and was automatic magic". Syria's current political unrest is all over the news and social media, and the story being painted is difficult to watch. Driven to create a song which goes against all the negative publicity, Unders says "between all the negativity, the more i looked into the situation, the country, its people and its culture, the more this track reminded me of so much beauty the media doesn’t portray." The song itself a slow minimal trip with chopped up guitar licks, a gorgeous flute sample that takes the listener to far off desert lands, and features the vocals of Veerle. Satori is yet another up and coming producer from the Netherlands, gaining instant recognition sharing the stage and studio with Acid Pauli, and producing incredible tunes utilizing live instruments played by himself, and tastefully incorporating these with electronic elements. His remix preserves the original message of "Syria" lowering the BPM to an even more hypnotic 104 BPMs. Satori adds middle eastern strings and chords, swapping out the original vocal for a more Saharan inspired call, and even plays delicately with some acid sounds furthering the listeners journey. 
Both songs are meant to invoke peaceful images of Syria, and conjure up positive intention on the dance floor. Sol*Selectas is very excited to present the debut song "Syria" from Unders, and the amazing remix by Satori, two artists from the Netherlands you would do well to keep your eyes and ears open to in 2016.

Armen Miran & Hraach bring the mystical sounds of their native country Armenia to the underground dance floor with their latest collaboration the "Inevitable EP".  Each song takes the dancer and listener to a far off distant land. We hear lush melodic deep house fused with gorgeous sounds of the santur and duduk, both traditional and classic Armenian instruments. "We wanted to spread the sacred sound of the instruments to whomever was unaware of  them until now, as it's a beautiful and meaningful part of our Armenian culture." 
For the remix we commissioned two more Armenian producers on the rise - Viken Arman & Goldcap. Fueling their unique sound with passion and pride for Armenia, the two collaborate here for the 1st time ever, and deliver us an epic 15 minute interpretation of "Inevitable Ending". The slow journey builds with intricate percussions, pausing midway to give the sacred duduk sound it's own 3 minute solo, then comes back in with a pulsating balearic groove driven by a delicate acid bass line. The drums and percussive elements harmoniously weave in and out with the duduk, elevating the listener into a peaceful hypnotic state.
 The artwork by Helia Jamali features a doorway rising up from the volcanic Ararat mountains, welcoming us into the mystical world of Armen Miran & Hraach's modern interpretation of ancient Armenian sounds.

The "Wrong Bottle EP" comes from Essen Germany's Tim Reichelt aka Timboletti. For his debut on Sol Selectas, he brings us two original tracks inspired by long nights and unforgettable weekends he experienced DJing the European Festival circuit at places like Fusion, 3000 Grad, and Goulash Disko. "Wrong Bottle" is exactly that - an accidental journey into the psyche
brought on by a sip from a stranger's drink. As the percussion builds you close your eyes, and open them to a flock of wind instruments circling around you.  The trip gets intense and freaky at times, with acid arpeggios swirling around in your brain,  but after a while, you regain control and land back on planet Earth. The next day you wake up with a  "Salty Mind", things are bit foggy inside your head, but you are barefoot walking around and whistling in the sunshine. The beams of light hit your face like a thing of beauty, much like the field recordings of  the Ayuahasca ceremony Timboletti had 10 years ago in Ecuador, that come to life in this song. 
Uone & Western from Australia give us a nasty twist on the "Wrong Bottle", adding some of their own "down under" elixirs into the potion. The relentless groove pulsates until the sub frequencies run up and down your spine on the breakdown, with chants from the higher energy above, calling upon the acid lines that follow to keep you spinning. And finally the Jota Karloza remix of "Salty Mind" takes us even deeper into the light, slowing down the pace allowing for the imaginary psychedelic orchestra he creates to guide us through the sunlit forest.

The Sol Selectas family expands to Moscow Russia, with a debut EP from Zakir. 
The titles "Ruhi" and  "Meree Aatma" translate to the same meaning: "my Soul". These words are also terms of endearment for a person's lover, and Zakir tells the story of two Oriental love stories.  "Ruhi" is an Arabian tale with a magical oud, while  "Meree Aatma"  is an Indian romance with an enchanting flute.  The live instrumentation  blends beautifully with warm bass and arpeggios for an irrisistable groove. For the remix,  Just Emma from Under Your Skin Records, strips down the original "Ruhi", creating a deeper slow track of beautiful Arabesque techno. Sol Selectas label head Sabo transforms "Meree Aatma" into a percussive workout with lush strings and sitar for serious dance floor momentum. The artwork by Helia Jamali captures the spirit and soul, of the female love and energy we hear in the music.
