SOMA Labs Music is very happy to welcome John Holcroft back to the label with his latest work titled One with the Earth, composed with the SOMA TERRA as main synthesizer. It’s a beautiful and uplifting ambient album, one that will raise the spirits and take your imagination on a journey. Musically it has influences from different ambient and cosmic synthesizer classics, including from the 1970s Berlin school.  The concept for the album is quite simple. Taken literally, One with the Earth means that the  SOMA TERRA is accompanied by one other instrument. Of course the title can also be taken in a more spiritual context, but for the music the songs are duets.   John’s brother, James Holcroft, who’s released music on SOMA Labs Music as well, provides accompaniment on several many tracks with his unique style. The tracks are referred to as “Earths“, in a direct reference to the TERRA itself but also alkaline earth and rare earth metals, something John deals with in his daily life as a chemist. For the purpose of the album they are the substance of the earth. In molten form, they could also be referred to as the blood of the earth. One with the Earth is as much for late night road trips in the car as it is for headphones at home, perfect for mellowing out after a stressful day, and perfect music to have playing while working in the home or in the studio. One of those albums that makes you forget the passage of time! And it’s a great showcase of what SOMA TERRA can sound like in capable hands.
