This is technically the last track on the mixtape.. but two bonus tracks are in works for the summer. My students and friends requested I do a song not about math but about my life. I really put my heart into this one and hope you enjoy it!

Growing up in the city,
life wasn’t easy, 
didn’t have a lot of money growing up,
things were kinda tough.
trying make my way up,
calling everybody’s bluff,
working real hard in school,
following all the rules,
hitting the books all day,

NE philly is my home,

started temple in '08, 
i remember the date,
got a lot of scholarships so i could study in peace,

started out studying engineering,
but hated physics class with tsankov,
dr. lin  made physics cake, 
taught us the drake equation,
we weren't alone in space,
mathematics was my game,
my claim to fame,
tu teach was why i came to school,
mcnair kept me from looking like a fool,
did research with pecore,
had some summer stipends so I wasn’t poor
graduated in '12,
got my yearbook on a shelf, 
no one signed it cuz they gave it at graduation,
i don’t need no ones validation,
got the diploma hanging on the wall,
congratulations
dr. green retired after i left,
i still think he is the best

worked at temple school of medicine,
students innovated like thomas edison, 
students learned about health disparities,
this led me to my reality,
started teaching at sankofa freedom academy,
students learning math casually,
school community was a family,
sis tameka gave me a second chance as faculty,
kept me from being in agony, 
and losing my sanity, 
took a summer off to think about things,
decided wanted to out some strings,
started working at sths, 
amazing building, staff and students,
i felt like i was part of a movement,
move toward the fear, 
got some apple gear, 
think it’s time to cheer!

Did some awesome things here, 
had some festivities, 
won an award at MoMath, 
even made some of you laugh, 
wrote math songs to drop this tape,
some of you still hate, 
it’s okay, 
i wrote this song to set the record straight,
i came, i saw, i conquered, 
whats next, i ponder, 
publishing articles in academic journals, 
i wanna keep on learning, 
a phd program is where I’m heading, 
villanova is helping me get there,
2016 ncaa champions, everyone stares,
parade in the city,
team was gritty.

Like Kris Jenkins with the winning 3,

taking the shot, making it, 
realizing my potential, 
working on my credentials,
