Ominous is an ebb-and-flow cyclic track. It blurs the boundaries between sounds that are perceived to be ethereal and ambient or energetic and dirty, often by bleeding into or occurring in parallel with each other.

When it came to making a radio edit of Ominous, I wanted to do it a bit differently, and focus more on the dancey, energetic side of it and put that at the forefront.

Isolation Alone

Since the start of lockdown in the UK, I’ve given myself the task of creating a collection of songs and seeing how far I can get. The first one ‘Unravel, Usher In’ is now ready for the net, will drip feed more as this project unfolds!

James Day composes and produces electronic music as Somaphore. His recent electronica output uses a mix of software synthesisers and bespoke field recordings. His tracks combine the sophistication of artificially synthesised sounds with the organic feel of recorded material. He has collaborated with many artists, including vocalists and fellow producers such as s. lyre and Will Sid Smith, during his time at Falmouth University.
