I used to stream on MixLR live a lot. This set is one of my live sets from 2011. Although I mostly mix on CDJs now I think my best mixes were always done in Ableton Live using an APC 40 MPK as I did with this set. My BPM has also dropped in my old age, but this set is a faster 131 or 132 I would guess. The track selection is one of my best in my humble opinion. It's all killer and no filler. It still holds up many years on...and on .. and on...and on...

Live MixLR Set (2011)  Friday - Night - Progressive  Breaks w/ DJ Grade-E

One fine day in the middle of May, MTG Primate Crooked Sounds was chilling with a banana, listening to the sounds of the Jungle when the idea hit him! The MTG needs to branch out into some Drum n Bass!! He gobbled the rest of his 'naana, busted out some kick ass dnb, threw it at Bulla's feet and said, "have a go at this!!" Bulla took up the challenge and brought some dirty, low slung vibes to the mix then threw it over to Linda B who chucked in some cheeky dirty sounds. Professor Prim8 heard the call and finished it off with some typical nastiness and thus the mix was born. MTGnB are proud to present our first DnB mix, Drum 'N' Apes! Enjoy!

Mix #029 in our series comes from long-time label friend, AISHA.

The Glasgow based DJ and producer has been killing it in recent years and has earned the reputation as one of the most exciting up and coming artists in the Scottish-scene.  The Lunacy resident has been releasing tracks on Soma Records,  Huntleys and Palmers and also featured on our very own Angel series earlier in the year with her track 'Straight Edge'.

Rosie finishes off a busy year DJ'ing alongside DABJ at the Berkley Suite, NYE party at Interchange and starting 2020 with a bang at Maximum Pressure.  Be sure to catch her if you can.

When I first started going to parties one of the first shows I saw was System 7 live.  They played a lot of the breaks between their techno and trance tracks.  I also remember going to some “old school” techno parties in the warehouse scene in LA in the late 90’s and they played a lot of the break style techno, similar to the prodigy sound. I guess they classify this as Leftfield which makes me think the music has come full circle.

Hi friends - I’m kicking off a new dj set series that allows me to release music in my two favorite genres of deep house and breakbeats. Over the coming months I hope to release at least one new set on a semi-regular basis. 

Inspiration for the music comes mornings, black coffee, my favorite DJs, good grooves, 90 breaks and much more. 

Some of you may know me more for progressive breaks that I’ve played for years and still love. While you’ll certainly hear that type of sound in the breaks set, I’ve gravitated towards breaks that were slightly more acoustic, heavily influenced by classic nineties vibes with some modern melodies.  This set is good for chilling listening or club dancing. 

I have borrowed a few tracks that I’ve heard in other recent sets from some of my favorite DJs, but hopefully found my own unique take on them by placing them in the mix in my own way. While not focused on the hottest latest tracks that are mere minutes old, I hope you'll still be hearing some tunes that maybe you're hearing for the first time.
